Opening in theaters November 20, Blind Side is the remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher's presence in the Touhys' lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome.
The Rest of the Story? Well, Michael went on to graduate from Ole Miss where he was a first team All-American tackle. The Baltimore Ravens drafted him in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft and on July 30 signed him to a 5 year, $13.8 million contract. He's currently listed as 6'4" and 310 pounds. He started this season at right tackle for the Ravens thus far has started has every game

I think what happened here is not just she doesn't want him to eat alone that's another perspective.. But I think she saw he was so polite and eating where he's supposed to eat.. So he was a good example for them

Thats why I said parent and not just mom or dad. The fact that my mom has equal say as our dad in our home is empowerment.

Clearly, she is the boss in this house, but we desperately need more of her in this world, i.e. a good parent/ mother. because there are lots of mothers out there, sadly, they don't know how to be a mother.

So true!!! But there are also a lot of fathers - sadly - who do not know how to be good fathers either. We are all lost! :) Reading the Epistles of St Paul and St Peter give us very good examples how to be good to one another - as communities and as families - in the name of our beloved Christ.

It's funny how were always blaming mothers for everything but it's usually fathers the ones that run away from their responsibilities and no one blames them for anything. Society thinks that parenthood is solely the responsibility of the mother. It takes two to make a baby u know?

Pale in comparison to how many bad fathers there are too. People who are not prepared or ready to put aside themselves for their children should not have them. I'm not saying sacrificing your whole life. I'm saying don't have children if you're having them for selfish reasons like that to continue your "legacy" without accepting that they might grow up not wanting to follow your steps or dictating their lives.

No one should ever eat alone, have that in mind next time you see a person in school ore at work . There was a guy at my school he was builled and called fat. He was a junior and I was a senior, so one day I asked kindly if I could sit next to him. Me and my friends would go to whatever table he was sitting at and eat lunch with him everyday for the last year, the bullies stopped picking at him, he was the smartest guy at school. He is now one of my best friends. And now works for a top company that works with expensive cars ore whatever. It saddens me to know that not all people are kind ore good hearted and just want to hurt those weaker ore those that are diffrent, this movie shows that. By protecting the good people you´re protecting yourself from evil.

It's a strange combo. I grew up in Alabama and my grandmother had a landscaper she would pay to do stuff on the property, and would give him breakfast and lunch (she is a great cook) and they got along really well. Often when we visited on days the family property needed taking care of, my father would work alongside him. The landscaper was born in the 1920s and black, my grandmother was born in the 1920s and white. When we'd visit on weekends and he was there, he'd eat lunch on the front porch away from us. He would never eat around us. Eventually my father would leave us and go eat outside on the front porch with him. I asked why the black man ate outside and my grandmother had this look for horror on her face. I honestly think her and the black man had this behavior from back in slavery en grained into them for generations of their ancestors, for black people to eat outside of the presence of white people that it never crossed either of their minds this was odd behavior. We all ate together from that day forward. Feels good now. My grandmother is 98 and he is 93 (I think) and even though he no longer does property and forest management for us, when he is in good health he is always invited to the table. Sorry for the long self-story tale, but I think this scene also shows how racism just becomes normalcy for both the victims and the privileged and is really sad.

I don't think he was raised that way. That is part of the dream you are dreaming when you don't have a (loving) family. You dream how about others are living their family life. You dream about sitting at a table, eating from real plates, using cutlery. It's what you dream about having yourself, when you actually don't have it.

I went to a family christmas party a couple of years ago and instead of sitting around talking to each other they all just sat there texting other people and these were people in their 50s and 60s, half my age! I actually felt like going up to them and saying "hey, you know, talking to people that are actually sitting with you is cheaper than texting..." we have dinner together and play cards most nights because of this and as a result we have a son who has never asked to have a mobile because he doesn't think he needs one because guess what? he grew up talking with his parents. And I've also noticed that kids the same age as my son who do want mobiles have anxiety and depression issues (relative's kids).

Brilliant movie. Some people said that Sandra Bullock didn't deserve that Oscar. I don't agree. She was impressive and charming here. Quinton Aaron, Tim McGraw, Jae Head, Ray McKinnon were great as well. The whole film was very deep, personal, emotional & touching. Just like "In Love and War" (1996), "A Time to Kill" (1996), "Hope Floats" (1998), "Crash" (2004), "The Lake House" (2006), this film proves that Sandra can act dramatic roles brilliantly well!

Dear Lady Paquin, when you grew stone old one day, you will look back, and you will see your loving family. Your work, or your books, your studies or your animals, your plants, or your music. Yes, and maybe even your family. Pls try to believe a little in giving and getting back in life. It seldom shows soon, sometimes even a decade later. Just start with being the beautiful living and loving human being for a start. And by the way Sandra has some German Ancestors. My grandmother would have been furious if a guest is not sitting at the same table if invited to eat with the fam. The first section with the loving part was a saying in Prussia, she explained me before she left. Paquin might be French, Italian or Spanish background. Especially in France eating was a whole tradition. A complete culture and ceremonial. Read a little bit about those traditions, and you will be a fantastic host in this century. ❤️

I mean thanksgiving isn’t thanksgiving unless the table was set in my house. Its not just polite but it’s more engaging to sit around a table with your family and enjoy each other’s company because that’s the true spirit of the holiday.
