Very useful ! I will try it as one of my string cords outer layer broke and the catcher is not holding on to it anymore.

Good luck! This is the best time to replace it. You will need more time to replace the pull cord when it is broken completely.

What if the old cord is missing? How do you feed the new cord back through?

That would be more difficult, but you should be able to do it.
