I just realized how well organized your truck is Gavin. Like a paramedic vehicle everything in it's place and not throw about like Mr Ollie's truck. Good explanation of how you go about getting things done in this particular video.

Yes others like the neatness of your van, everything has a place. With Ollie searching for something other things pop up just to remind you that it's there. Both have their good points.

Give it all a clean.. that's so good. I've seen some drain clearings where they just pop the blockage and call it good. You're out there, the equipment is there, it's all set up... not a real big deal to take the extra time and leave a good impression! Top Job! :D

I have become addicted to your channel. God knows why. I have observed that you have a very strong work ethic and watched Episode 191 I believe, where the one dude only wanted your price. Hope he goes with the cheap guys and that he regrets it. He needs to learn you get what you pay for. Expertise and experience counts. I live in the U. S. in a suburb of Chicago. I have learned a lot, even though we don't have the same type of drain layouts as in Australia. As a single retired female I am unfortunately look at as a sucker by both electrical and plumbing companies. One guy quoted me $500 to change out the popoff cap on my garage faucet, which had broken and was leaking. Fortunately I researched it and found that it was easily replaced for about $30 and 10 minutes work. I have taken your advice and have started to check out all the reviews. If they are all excellent, I am suspicious. Some companies will give 10% - 20% off the cost of a job for a good Google review, which isn't cool. I feel more comfortable after watching alot of your videos. I've lived in my home for 10 years and didn't know the white drain cap with a square middle was an IO port for my water and sewage. Now I do. I really wish you had some U.S. counterparts that can be trusted to do good work. In the meantime, I'll just keep on checking you and the gang out. Great work once again!

When I tell people I rather would pull a stool and work on a plugged main line than work on a sink drain they look at me like I have 3 heads.....until I pop the trap and the smell smacks them between the eyes......nothing more disgusting than a sink drain. Love the truck layout and use of the packout system.

I can't understand why people dump grease down their drain. Great job, Gavin.
@mystic_tacos
@mystic_tacos Жыл бұрын
It isn't always a result of dumping grease down the drain. Over the years of doing dishes, some people rinse their ground beef to get even more fat off of it, the oils from your hands (provided you wash your hands in that sink, unless they all lead to that line), it just collects. I would expect even dishwashers empty into that drain.
@tbelding
@tbelding Жыл бұрын
I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again - lye (Drain-o and similar) works great, but it has a time and a place. If the drain is _slow_, lye can help a lot. If it's blocked, it's just dangerous. As a regular maintenance chemical, perfect. Not as a "cleaner". (You can clean oil stains in a concrete driveway with it too. Don't use it on asphalt)

I enjoy your videos a great deal. Been meaning to ask a question or two: What is a gully? (We don't use that term where I live.) Second, in Brisbane can kitchen waste be run into the same pipe as stormwater...in this incident, water from the patio? If so, does this go out to the street or the city sewer system?
@penetratorblockeddrains
@penetratorblockeddrains Жыл бұрын
Gully is a trap or ORG. No stormwater and sewer pipes can’t not mix
@tbelding
@tbelding Жыл бұрын
I know it depends on the area. In the US, I know that some places have a single joined system, others have split sanitary and storm sewers. In Houston, some of the oldest sewers are still joined systems - everything new is separated.

I wish stinking and "bad" smells and dont cleaning up body or clothes and taking bath or shower for a year will be very trendy and beeing see as healthy and everybody will do it in that way, also all people will focus only to be more than relaxed and antistressed so we will not feel anything unpleasure and even feel good things and smells only- its in biology 😊😇😼👌

I don't watch the sewer cleans, only do the storm drains. Sorry but just not into that $*&%. Funny thing, this happened today. My kitchen sink drain plugged last night. Made for an interesting adventure. Kitchen is in the second story, the cleanout is at ground level inside a finished basement.. Took a long time to get the loaded pipe drained enough to open the cleanout. Put my 25 foot snake down. Nothing. Grand, just grand. Rented a 50' snake and just finished getting it open. Yup, great big old gob of fat blocking the pipe. Disgusting. 🤮🤮🤮
