This video describes blocking nappa leather for a button beret hat. All my videos are a bit ad hoc, so mistakes are included! I don't enjoy blocking leather, but I hope you enjoy watching!

I got this bag of leather offcuts when I was making a miniature harness for this Horse ornament as part of this Gypsy Varda caravan miniature I was doing. I was expecting like an A4 envelope of bits and pieces but what arrived was a veritable SACK of huge offcuts in every colour and finish you can think of. So I bought myself a flat vintage hat sewing pattern copy yesterday and ordered some leather needles and I will give it a try because, you could make full harness for a real horse with the amount of leather I have in that bag! I think I will buy one of those handbag frames while I am at it, to make a matching vintage bag. Anyhoo...thats for later as my sinamay has arrived along with my placemats and I remembered to drop your name at the Trimming Company and Petershams. I will upload any results (if they arent too embarrassing lol!) to Instagram so you can see them.

Thanks for the video. It's very educative. But I did see you using stiffener or is it mixed in the spray container.

Hi, I only used water, because I used paris net to stiffen it, I didn't need any other stiffener, hope this helps

Thanks for this video, did you add stiffener to your leather?
@SHMillinery3 жыл бұрын
No once I added the wet leather to the Paris net, it reactive the starch in the net and it stuck hard

@@SHMillinery thanks for this video. I see it was possible for the leather you used in this video to get wet. Is it a special type of leather than the usual leather used?
