Blondie in China

4 жыл бұрын

There aren’t many cities in the world like Quanzhou, and you’ll soon see why. As the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, it was a place where China met the world, and the world met China. As a result, Quanzhou is full of cultural influences from all around the world: Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Confucianism.... the list goes on!

@@qilai844 you didn't get it. What it means is that I respect whatever faith you put on yourself, but you need to respect what others choose to believe (or not to believe), in other words, no one should impose their own ideology onto others. If you look around, not many 教 can be said like that.

However, the real situation currently is that it is illegal for people under 18 to enter churches in China, even if they are sent to Sunday schools or Youth Groups by their parents. Those who teach these children the gospel commit the crime of competing against 'You Know Who' for children's minds.

As a Chinese born in Quanzhou, but now live in Germany. I've learned Quanzhou more in this 10 minutes video. Thank you Amy. I'd like to bring one fun fact that the pronunciation tea from various counties around the world came from Quanzhou where local dialect call it "Tjie" (Minnan, Hokkien,闽南语), while in Mandarin Chinese it is called "Cha".

My relatives live in Quanzhou, and I'm very familiar with the streets and culture of Quanzhou; however I never had the chance and creativity to make an educational vlog like this. Thanks for sharing Quanzhou to the world!! also fun fact, many overseas Chinese in the Southeast Asia (like me) trace our ancestors back to Fujian particularly Quanzhou, and most of these Chinese are indeed businesspeople!

Your video was like a walk down memory lane, as I too walked past the Qingjing Mosque, Guangdi Temple and Kaiyuan Temple with my dad. The Maritime Museum is truly an eye-opener to see how diverse a society Quanzhou was a long time ago. Thank you so much for sharing a video on the history and sights of Quanzhou! 🙏🏼

Exported along with the tea leaves from Quanzhou was the word for tea in many European languages. The word for tea in the southern Fujian dialect/language ("Minnan hua") is "te" (or "de") and the pronunciation is almost identical to that of the French word "thé", the Spanish "té", or even the Italian "tè". From there we then have the English word "tea" and the German word "tee".
