Let me give some (unnecessary) explanations to the writings as I understand them. 1:01 "Don't put the eggs into the salt!!!" When people ate hard-boiled eggs, proper way to salt them was to sprinkle a pinch of salt on top of one before biting. However, because soviet canteens had open salt containers, not shakers, some people chose to dip the egg into container instead. Which caused mild inconvenience to everyone, as residual moisture on the egg made the salt clump up. The purpose of this writing is to invoke soviet canteen aesthetic. This phrase (and issue) is pretty much unique to that exact period and location. 2:26 "Du.........ev" blood covers the name "Worker of the month" At Soviet worksites motivation to work was extremely low, as pay was fixed country-wide and it was pretty much impossible to fire a worker. So, similar to modern corporate, they tried various tactics to convince people to work harder despite the absence of any real reason to do so. 5:02 "Give people beer, not piss!" Soviet beer was made by the state, and it was distributed in huge kegs with no tamper protection. So, beer sellers made profit by selling some beer on the side, replacing missing volume with water. Diluted beer was dubbed piss and it was an everlasting and widespread issue because salesmen wanted profit while people wanted proper beer, and state did nothing to fix the issue. 10:41 "Use fork to put lard in roller's neck" This is a soviet safety poster. Even by soviet standards it stands out due to strange phrasing and uncommon terminology. Metal rolling factories used lard as lubricant, but putting anything into moving mechanism is dangerous as you might get your fingers/hand/yourself rolled/milled. So they used special tool (fork) to do so. Hope I gave you some insight =)

I genuinely laughed at the "arrows = bad level design" reference. What a nice map. I wasn't a big fan of the indoor areas because the scale felt so off, but the outdoor ones look great!

The tall structure with the Hell Knights are probably "Cooling Towers", or "Scrubbing Towers". Scrubbing like you let water fall from a tall place so it can capture gases going up such as sulfur dioxide. Yeah that's how they make our industrial sulfuric acid.

Yesterday I finally got my hands on this wad and made it through few map including this one. Man, it gaves me flashbacks from Valiant, both Half-Lifes, Delta Force Black Hawk Down and Redneck Rampage. In other words, I'm happier than pinky in a nukage. Even local ambushes didn't prevented me from enjoying the wad.

I like how the old factory district creates a great skyline against that skybox.

The aesthetics of this map are amazing. As a Russian, I liked seeing all of these writings scattered around the map. Great vid as always.

Hello from one of plenty russian viewers o/ That's an amazing wad, i swear. One of best "realistic" wads were ever created, together with Going Down, and even more, just one of best overall. And music in some maps is slightly annoying but still very cool, including this one

Thank you for showcasing this wad. I've also haven't heard of it and it was a pleasure to play. The last strech gets too slaughter-like for my taste (especially MAP07), but overall it was a great time, with detailed level design and high-energy combat.

The graphics and even the music I believe was in Ashes 2063. I just scrolled down the comments and saw zero mentions of Ashes 2063, which shocked me. It looks so similar that's what I thought you were playing for a few seconds. If you havent played it, please do. It's amazing. It's a complete overhaul of the game and in my opinion, it's the best one. I am partial because I have a motorcycle that looks sort of like the one you use in the game, so it was extra immersion for me lol

Really liked this map the outside area was really well designed I definitely agree with you decino that it did have a real feel to the look you could imagine that the map maker had a photo of a factory and recreated it in doom just adding extra parts to it so it's plays better as a level really good. And again yeah another nice sky box I've said it so many times before it's maps like this and the one's that came before it which makes me excited to see what else is coming up in this round of viewer submissions. Ohh and I ended up getting freedom from your link so I've had a little go like a couple of levels on phase one and two just to make sure everything is in order but yeah I'll be starting that once I've gone through back to Satan X 1 & 2 gunner be a while I'm only on map 18 (BTSX) anyway great level made my morning so as always thanks for the upload decino

You've just reminded me this mapset exists and I should really have another go at it when I get home. Last time I touched it, I was still obsessed with Project Brutality 3.0 and that overhaul mod makes the first couple of maps an absolute chore to get through.

This map looks more like something from Duke Nukem 3D than from Doom, I will check it out for sure.

First Netherworld and now this. The one thing I like about the viewer submissions is that I get the chance to see WADs I wouldn't hear about them otherwise. I know that you have some thoughts about limiting the submissions to only maps that the viewer created, but I'll be really happy if you don't do it and keep it in the current format, and let us also get to know other WADs that were already published, but we're not familiar with them.

I just must write this: I am truly amazed and grateful, that we have this technology called the Internet, with KZfaq and all sorts of things. I humbly watch something, made by someone, played by someone else, which I played myself all those decades ago, of course "legally" obtained, because there was little to no legal possibility to get it. This also shows that if you want something to thrive and live on, you must "set it free". Again, my deepest acknowledgment of what I witness here. I am truly amazed and thankful. Many young people might not realize this, but if anyone told me back in the 80s that THIS will one day become everyday reality, I would not believe it. We really live in the future. And this is one of the nice, good, enjoyable things it brings. My thanks goes to all people involved in making this future possible. I am grateful. And drunk. But that you already managed to recognize, right? 🙂
