Train 12R approaches crossing near Chambersburg Pa on the NS Lurgan Branch. I thought the truck was going to stop, but he only slowed down. My Jeep was untouched, I'm fine and the driver is fine.

Wow, you sure did get that on video! Glad nobody got hurt. The driver should have stopped and looked, obviously. Stuff went everywhere. I am glad that none of the debris hit you or your truck. Hey, I like that trailer hitch that you have!

@haroldmagnotta2743 Жыл бұрын
I talked to the driver minutes afterward ; he said you distracted him by your recording. He wasn’t sure if you worked for the railroad company or somewhat similar. He said he slowed down and was about to stop directly on the tracks because it appeared to him that you were in a position of authority. Thank God he kept moving, albeit he was confused by your presence but he kept moving, nonetheless or you would have filmed him getting hit by the train and not his trailer. There is no doubt it was COMPLETELY unintentional on your part, but maybe it would be wiser if you were to stand a little further away from the tracks and zoom in a bit, instead of being parked so close and filming within feet of the tracks. Sorry man, not really a good thing to do. I am not saying you can’t, but it’s super dangerous to cause confusion with something so powerfully dangerous and potentially deadly. He’s lucky and luck saved his life. I hope you can appreciate this in the future.
@MMID303 Жыл бұрын
I had no signs of being a position of authority. No railroad clothing,no high visibility vest, or markings on my vehicle. People need to think.
@haroldmagnotta2743 Жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. People do need to think, especially when around one of the most dangerous and unstoppable man made vehicles ever created. I think it is super dangerous to record so closely, you almost got hit too… I am glad you and the driver didn’t get physically hurt. Be safe…
@SamZarifYT10 ай бұрын
Now that’s what I call a skill issue! There is no reason, authority or not, to cross the tracks as a train is barreling towards you.
@daveh261210 ай бұрын
That’s the dumbest excuse I’ve ever heard of. Even if he had a hi-vis vest on or worked for the railroad, they don’t have “authority” to make you stop on the tracks. He was distracted regardless of the reason and caused that mess himself. I’ve literally seen train employees at a crossing with their vehicles, doing maintenance etc. I’ve never thrown my hands up in dispair/ surrender and stopped on the tracks as a result. You are responsible for your own vehicle.
@FriedrichGoring10 ай бұрын
Thats no excuse not to check for trains, sounds like a liberal tactic to pass blame.

No lights or gates just a sign that says railroad crossing definitely not enough warning

The blaring train horn isn't enough warning? And the stop sign, which means you are supposed to come to a complete stop and not proceed unless it is clear?

That was such a short train so why did it have a DPU?
@MMID3039 ай бұрын
DPU was just there for convenience for the crew. It was the local. It works Chambersburg then heads back to Hagerstown, so a rear locomotive helps them on the return trip.
