the brush from Scully & Scully and others like it are smoothing brushes, not detangling brushes. they are usually sold in sets with a comb like yours. the comb is to detangle and section your hair and the brush to help distribute oils from your scalp and polish the hair. These are from a time when women washed the hair much less frequently than we do know.

I'm happy for everyone who could improve with his tips, but for me it took a completely different direction - I have to work with a dermatologist to stop the many awful effects of his "pro-tips", from an awful amount of grease to an ubareable itching that makes normal life impossible. The amount of $ I had to spend on medicines to fix this is insane. I'm not a fan of him anymore, to say the least.

@@jagoda3714 Why would you need a dermatologist to fix the grease when you just have to start washing your hair more frequently again? This channel is the best thing I ever came across on KZfaq. It wasn't that long ago, but I've since changed my hair care routine and I'm amazed. Following your advice, my fine hair has more volume and stays soft and smooth for much longer. It used to be quite gross on day three but now I can go up to five days and that mostly with my drug store products from Schwarzkopf and L'Oreal. I've even resurrected stuff from my product graveyard (leave-in conditioner and hair oil) which I thought were bad because I was using them wrong. Also made a few small investments like a terry cloth shower cap and Wet Brush, as well as got some items from the recommended product list (buying them one by one as I can't afford them all at once and will use up the products I have at home first). My hair and I say thank you! MAJOR GAME CHANGER!

My favorite brush is now the Wet brush. I have been following your recommendations and cannot believe the changes in my hair. My hair is like a horses tail! I am seriously not exaggerating. It is wavy and each strand is so thick and strong. But, it was frizzy, dry and crazy looking. I have been treating as you recommended and it has softened and looks so much better! I don't have split ends and it is healthy. Thank you so much for your videos.

Ten years ago I had hair down to my waist, but didn't know how to take care of it at all. I didn't even brush it every day (!!). I hacked all of it off for a jaw-length bob. I've since grown it out to my waist again. But now, it's super smooth and silky! I don't even need to flatiron it to tame it anymore. I just follow your advice and your hair trinity, and it's great!! My hair is longer, healthier, and EASIER to take care of than before! Thank you for saving so many people's heads!! 🙏

Sorry, but I have to correct you. Most hairbrushes, especially those made of wood or real wild boar hair, for example, are not intended to detangle hair. This used to be done with a comb, starting with long hair from the bottom and then working your way up to the scalp. The hairbrush was only used afterwards. The bristles are there to massage the scalp for better blood circulation and to distribute the sebum produced by the scalp down the lengths. People used to wash their hair much less often than most people do today and these hairbrushes were also intended to mechanically remove dirt and dead skin from the scalp. Some of the women had hair a length of knee or longer. Empress Elisabeth of Austria, for example, washed her beautiful long hair about once every three to four weeks. People who lived in the countryside washed their hair even less often. The hairbrushes distributed the sebum in the hair very well, and it was easier and quicker to wash the hairbrush more often than the beautiful long hair, which was braided and tied up most of the time anyway. That's why it was possible for women to grow their hair so long and healthy. However, they weren't good customers for your profession either. I would still ask you to think about it and correct it. I am a Mason Pearson BN1 lover, but I have very long hair and also have many other expensive hairbrushes from Kent and other manufacturers at home and I also enjoy using them or admire them for their artistic craftsmanship. You are not doing these manufacturers any favors with a video in which you spread false information. It is your mistake if you ask these hairbrushes to do things for which they were never intended or made. And in addition, your viewers are not properly informed, because these hairbrushes still have their right to exist today for those people who know how to use them and what they are intended for. A well-supplied scalp is very important for good hair growth, and the best conditioner for hair is the one that is produced by your own body for these purposes, and not the chemically manufactured stuff that most people have to use these days because they don't have enough have the knowledge of how to care for your hair naturally and properly. Especially because most people no longer know what not to do with their hair if they want to have long and healthy hair, such as a lot of heat, chemical hair colors, the wrong tools for hairstyles and hair care. Many greetings from Switzerland and I hope you can now appreciate your collector's item hairbrush even better for what it is and not just because it was very expensive when you bought it.

Um so these brushes have never been upgraded and outdated. Most ppl don’t need sebum in their hair. I think the regular crowd here just want a daily brush, which is a detangle brush. Sebum in the long run is not healthy. My hair is naturally oily and I know not everyones is. I think he knows his crowd, and the general crowd wants a detangler. I am not an 1800s customer and pretty sure that why he kept the vintage brush.

To sum up. Some brushes aren't meant for detangling. They are tools with another purpose. Like bamboo or boar bristle. It's job isn't to detangle. So of course it's not great at it.

The flat brushes are not made to detangle, they to smooth and add shine. Which you admit they do. Also, in the long hair community wooden brushes are the king of brushes and most people with extra long hair (longer than hip)., use them exclusively. That being said, I don’t agree with brush review, though I usually get great tips from your KZfaq videos.

Hi Chris, i've been looking after my hair the way you suggested for almost 4 months now. I went to my hairdresser at the beginning of December and what can I say, she praised me for my beautiful hair. I now also get compliments from colleagues and my family. I struggled with hair loss for a long time and tried a lot of things. On the one hand, a vitamin D deficiency was to blame, but also the wrong hair routine. However, it also took me a while to find all the products for my medium hair. The most difficult to find was the Pureology Colour Fanatic Hair Treatment Spray. For those of you who live in Germany, I have now found it at lookfantastic. At the same time I use the moroccan light oil, which I find very good and a good alternative to Olaplex No. 3. My hair has become softer and more voluminous and thanks to the extra moisture from the leave in conditioner my curls have become much nicer. And I'm recommending the Wet Brush to everyone right now. It's really great. Thank you very much Chris.

Only because I hated the “dust balls” that collected on the wet brush brand because of the rubber balls on the ends of the bristles. Hands down… tangle teasers are the best to use AND the easiest to keep clean !!!! Hi, love your honest reviews and advice. I’m presuming your recommendations might apply to me- However, I haven’t found any videos that address wavy-curly headed people! I have naturally wavy /curly hair types 2-3 abc (Fine to medium naturally wavy /curly depending on the styling day)I don’t brush it out, blow it out using brush tools. I use styling products that help define curls and a diffuser! My hair is feeling a bit dryer lately even though I wash every few days. Hoping you do an in depth segment on best shampoo/conditioner and other products, styling techniques, 3 day type maintenance recommendations for us naturally wavy-curly top girls! Thanks!

The Unbrush should have been a contender. I stopped using the Wet brush because with my thick hair it didnt go all the way through, and the bristles just popped out after a few months. I bought the Sally brand which is a mix of the Wet Brush and a boar brush except they're all nylon just not all bulbed. It's great. Try it.

The 1 $ brush is probably made out of silicone and that's why it works. My detangle brush is a silicone one and the cost was 4 €. I only use silicone and wood brushes and combs, because plastic, metal & boar bristles make my hair frizzy.

My favorite brush is from Dollar Tree. It’s gentler than my Wet Brush. I know! I can’t believe it either but I’m getting more of them so I can always use a clean dry brush! No llamas on mine though 😂

The issue with this review is that the brushes are being used on one hair type, even if that's not what they're for. I have natural hair that ranges from 3c to 4a. It tangles badly when wet. That rake looking brush is supposed to be held vertically and the hair detangled starting from the ends. Once the section is detangled then you hold it horizontally and rake from root to tip. It actually makes the curls clump together. That brush actually saved my hair and has made wash day much better for me.

Love your techniques and products recommendations it saved me hair! I use a Wet brush for everyday use, I love how it holds shedded inside the brush so it's not flying everywhere... Somehow lol but my hair is Relaxed so my roots have a different texture so I need something heavier there and I have a thicker plastic one from Marshalls around $6 for that and it's great... Also they have Wet brushes for $3 lol

I love my mason and pearson brush. Although I am from the UK and only paid £90 instead of $200 so they must be a lot cheaper here maybe because they are made here

Chris! Could you make a video about what products to use right after bleaching? Like what shampoo to rinse bleach, do we put a mask on before toner, etc. ? 😊

Hey! Just came across your channel and love the videos. I was wondering if you could do a video on how to wear your hair up without damaging it. I am a hijabi with really long hair so I HAVE to put it in a bun whenever I'm outside, and since I'm a student, that happens to be around 10 hours a day. But i think it might be taking a toll on my hairline. Would love to see your take on this!

Hairbrushes are very personal items. Mine usually last no more than a year no matter how much I spend on a paddle brush. I clean them once a week. I find some wear more on the tips, some the rubber breaks down, and some just plain pull out too much hair. I do like a T3 brush, but I do find them more expensive.

That wet brush doesn't seem to work well with curly hair or maybe it's my technique? The tangle teezer works well for us.
