Followed your instructions to repair my Insignia Blu- Ray player that I purchased in 2011. The tray would not open. Your spot on man. I was all set to trash it. Now it works fine. Used some Lithium grease. Tray works fine. Thanks much. You are truly the big dog.

Thanks for the video! Mine had the pin that engages the rack connected to the gear out of its track on the disk holder so I was able to take it off and put it back in the track in the right position with information from your video!

Excellent. My player ws trashed - door was broken but you helped me figure out how to get the DVD out w/o ruining it & having to pay a library bill to reolace it.

You inspired me to try to fix an LG Blu-Ray player. This video helped me to look for the gears. I opened it up, and there was a small black rubber band that had snapped. I had a bag of tiny rubber bands and replaced it. Good as new!

"Get the cover off, that easy." Meanwhile I have a Toshiba player sitting here that I've removed the screws from and the damn metal case STILL won't come off. Of course there are no repair/teardown videos of this particular model anywhere on the net.

What happens when the wheel only turns so far then won't go any further? Does that means it's broken for good or?

I had one that wouldn't open. Turned out they used an o ring from the drive motor as the drive belt. It was completely stretched out. Popped a new one in, good as new. If it's broke, what harm is there in trying to fix it?

Hi, I was trying this for my blu ray player cause the door is stuck. I managed 2 get the cover off and have the same kinda tray down setup. However the tray won't come out the door even with the screws out. It'll lift up but seems stuck in door. What should I do? Also what do u unplug and replug in to take the disc tray out? Thanx.

You could mention the fact that these things need to be done while the DVD player is unplugged for risk of electrical shock, otherwise good info

Whar exactly did you do to get it to eject? Was it adding grease or oiling the gears? I'm having the same problem. It did open half way but then again it's still does not eject to open or close.

What happens if you find the video after you "forced it" I tried the instructions in the video but it seems like it is out of sync because I forced it. How do I recover?

On the Blue Ray Player with the unit plugged in Press and Hold the Power and the Door Open on the Unit (not the remote) for 10 sec or you hear 3 beeps. as long as the unit is plugged it it will stay working with the remote but if you unplug it you will have to reprogram it again using these steps.

My BluRay player does not play Blu ray but does cd and DVD. Samsung bricked it with an update in 2013.

Mine is open/close but its spinning just a little bit and stops!

i just bought a "lightly used, good condition" dvd player form some old lady and the tray doesn't open (plus the front plastic is loose). maybe i should try this. edit: i ended up trying this fix. the gears were greasy and the rubber band connecting it had good grip. when i turned the power back on, it closed, as yours did, but it did not open XDXD i manually opened it without removing it from it's place, like by rolling the gear. then i could pull it open the rest of the way. at some point i decided to try putting a DVD in it. it read it right and all, but guess what, WITH a DVD it opens without any extra assistance XDXDXD if u close it without a dvd then it will not open.

When you said "plug it in" I panicked, but then you showed me the plug and then calm washed over me in a cool wave.
