Those snail things look like they come straight from a horror movie

Love the snails. I had a saltwater tank with nassasarious (I spelled it wrong) snails in it. They looked the same but were smaller than these snails. All that you would see of them was a tiny breathing tube sticking up above the sand. But when I fed the fish... oh, my. As soon as the food hit the water, the snails would be out of the sand and looking for the eats. Fun to watch and good memories, thanks!

cool video, I used to use chicken with a wire, string and a net in the 70's ... caught many in those rivers.... free old chicken from the A&P in little silver and catch 30 or more in about 3 hours.... man that was fun stuff.

i like how ya use a trap where they can stroll in, eat, and walk right back out lol
@bobzeitlinger57978 жыл бұрын
yeah, that's the idea of a trap, vs. a pot. adds the element of skill to it... having to pull the trap rather than just pick it up in 24 hours.

Use fresh fish for bait. You'll catch 10X the crabs.

Cool video, thanks. I'm just north of the Highlands bridge and I see those snails devour the fish fillets in not time. I usually use bunker but have to hang it high in the trap to keep it away from the snails. What kind of camera were you using? Even with underwater sound..that was great. Thanks..

sorry for late reply. okay, very late reply. go pro camera. mid level version.

This is fascinating to me because I love crab and it's expensive and I've been thinking about crabbing. A lot of people do it here and then have it cooked for them and it's SO good!
@michaeldonovan40769 жыл бұрын
DancesWithBears It's not that hard to cook.
@danceswithbears25219 жыл бұрын
Michael Donovan Yeah, but I would have to catch it, sex it, size it, and then cook it.
@bobthezee8 жыл бұрын
+DancesWithBears you're going to "sex it?" I think that's illegal in 44 states.
@danceswithbears25218 жыл бұрын
bobthezee Not anymore. Now the State is promoting sex for everyone, even crabs.

It's legal to fish/crab off a bridge in NJ? They don't allow it here in CA
@bobthezee8 жыл бұрын
+alexkg1 yes. most bridges. there will be signs if it's not allowed.
@alexkg18 жыл бұрын
bobthezee That's pretty awesome! I've always wanted to try fishing off a bridge.

A pitifully poor video. How did it get so many hits?
@bobthezee8 жыл бұрын
+PALIN SMITH thanks for your positive comment! So appreciated. It gets "hits" when people watch the video. That's how it works on KZfaq. Kind of simple. You. Stupid. Moron.

@derpmilkshake83528 жыл бұрын
+bobthezee I'm going to subscribe because i liked what it was about. It taught me about what happens in your trap. It really did not matter if the quality was bad or not.

i never had much success with those traps, i had far more success with tying a chicken neck to a long string
@IamLA515010 жыл бұрын
thats why you use chicken necks
@jimmygangster10 жыл бұрын
yea chicken necks are better, and what we use in ours is a metal coat hanger thats shaped kinda like a safety pin almost and that slides right through the necks bones so they cant steal the neck
@bobzeitlinger57978 жыл бұрын
we moved onto necks. agree that they are better. not sure why, but just about everyone agrees

Metal traps are a loser. They jam shut, they jam open, and if there is a strong current they stay closed.
@bobzeitlinger57978 жыл бұрын
yeah, you're right. Metal traps are "a loser." That's why our traps are now made of straw. We had some made of butter, but they melted away. And then we tried ice cream, but kind of the same thing happened. We had some traps made out of girls' tears, but they got stolen. And once, at band camp, we made traps out of human hair, but not just any human hair.
