It's finally time for us to jump into a new series! This time it's "Blue Eye Samurai" from Netflix, and we actually chose it because we thought it was a limited series, as in one season only. We were of course wrong about that, and after having watched all 8 episodes, we definitely don't mind! We absolutely loved it, and this first episode really kicked things off in a spectacular fashion.

The squeaking floors are often called NIghtengail floors. They will have small wedges of wood under them that make a squeaking sound as people walk across them.

Yeah, it’s probably the best show of 2024 so far, since Blue Eye Samurai came out in 2023 and Arcane season 2 doesn’t drop until November

Since y’all took the time with the cast list, some of the other actors y’all didn’t mention but might recognize: Heiji Shindo is played by Randall Park, who plays agent Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and Wandavision (as well as a memorable role in the American version of the Office). Also, Swordfather is voiced by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who was Shang Tsung in the original Mortal Kombat movie. Also, Ringo’s voice actor (Masi Oka) had a very memorable role on the old network television show “Heroes” as Hiro, who could control time, if you ever watched that. And Akemi is voiced brilliantly by Brenda Song, who had a very successful run on live action Disney Channel kid’s shows and was in the marvel show “Runaways” a couple years ago. That’s all I can think of, but wanted to throw it out there. Love y’all’s reactions.

The 5th episode of this season is one of the finest episodes of television made in the 40 years I’ve been on this rock. Definitely on par with the 3rd episode of Arcane and other S tier episodes like that. Absolutely incendiary storytelling. Sorry to gush, I just can’t wait to take this journey with you both.

I'm very much pleased that you're including this amazing series! This show and story is my favorite of 2023 on so many levels, the unpredictable turns with delightful twists, the voicework of the actors , animation and cinematography are at the top of its game, love it all and eager to get both your takes on things! This is one to savor indeed and say give us more like it where everyone associated with its production is giving their best work! The writers are genius and to be commended! Great work Michael Green and Amber Noizumi!

I believe the animation studio is French. Arcane was also animated by a French studio. I think those series have two of the best art in recent years. If you read Franco-Belgian comics, it’s no surprise that French animation studios would also have great art.

There’s so much nudity and violence in this show, I hope Kat will be ok. But the show is so good, and the violence and nudity are hardly ever gratuitous. Like, it’s a LOT sometimes, but it’s always serving the story.

36:01 Looking up the cast is definitely going to spoil you, which you just did. 🙃 Never look up the cast. Especially when some character's identity have yet to be revealed. Also, knowing in how many episodes an actor / character is in is spoilery.

When we look up the cast, we usually don't look at the list of actors for the entire series, just for the particular episode we're watching. In this case I just made the mistake of not doing it like that. Lesson learned 👍

For example, the protagonist and characters wear costumes strongly influenced by the Korean Peninsula and China of the time. Also, with regrettable prejudice, not all Japanese have slanted eyes.
