Same. It's likely due to a mixture of things. The colors and lights, the embracing of technology we now feel is analog and ancient, the experimentation. People created things as though the world was going to end, because it could've. So the sounds, sights, and feelings not only had to be vivid and powerful, but also to stand the test of time.
