what NES Tetris has above most other competitive titles is that you mostly care about your own decisions, only comparing your pace to the opponent's, while most other competitive games involve some interaction with the opponent, which would generally make the loser salty cuz they generally would feel like they didn't play to the most of their abilities, cuz the opponent didn't let them, so in NES Tetris's case, in any given game, both players did get to play properly, so I think that justifies the good sportsmanship

@@xeggom7243 I don't play Tetris, but I guess that breaking more lines at once gets you more points. so the goal for more points is to always break 4 lines at once.

​@xeggom7243 scuti is more aggressive and stacks higher than rhubarb, rhubarb is keeping his stack low. It means that scuti is more likely of getting a double tetris because of a higher stack which means he gets ahead much faster. Scuti is weaker to droughts but he is a really fast roller

@@igormorais4192you forget, the championships aren’t about survival due to the level 39 super kill screen. Efficiency is needed to score high enough before lv39. Scuti broke the game by surviving, not by scoring highly, he wasn’t focusing on getting tetrises at all during that run

Very unlikely. There are way too many crashes to avoid to get to that level. The game is very unstable at the highest levels.

It seems to be a common problem among top level players. Level 18 seems to mess with them.

@@TweetyBirdDawg agreed, but thats what makes it a fun challenge! Playing 200 levels that barely change wouldn't be *that* much of a challenge. Having the game start breaking around you for the last 100 levels, and you need to literally memorize what things you can and cannot do on every individual level. Thats fucking fun as hell. I cannot wait to see people be absolute beasts and learn to do it!

Yeah his stacks are way better all he needs is speed. Once he's mastered level 29, that'd be rlly good cuz it's the same speed from then on. It's just that great barrier to overcome.

In competition play that won’t happen, as the game is played on a modded version with an additional speed increase on level 39. Players call it the double kill screen

I think the only person who can rightfully critique Scuti on the game is someone else who is good enough to reach the game crash. So far, that is only Fractal.

@@Jaysen6740 I think a little critiquing from a "old guy" that's been playing it for more than 30 years is healthy. A lot of these young guys coming in with speed and new ways to play the game probably don't have any people in their lives that are experienced. Stacking correctly should be achieved first, but with these young kids that play these classic games completely different come in with just that but no discipline. He put himself in too many predicaments that shouldn't have been there in the first place by the lack of basic piece placement adequate. He will see in competition that simple mistakes will eventually cause a top out premature. He's proven that he can burn his mistakes down but that also wastes lines and points and time. Notice how he was on level 36 when the other guy was on 29? that was constantly because of the mistakes. He will be okay, he already defeated the game so all he has to do is go back and learn the basics. :)

He knows how to stack. I suspect it's lack of focus at the "easy" levels that causes the mistakes. He'll get better as he matures.

He has prioritized speed and it’s paying off. As he matures, he will be able to hone his playing style. But a brain can only move so fast without stalling. The way he plays allows his mind to work faster in the 29+ levels. So there is a tradeoff in being methodical.

Need at least 1x fast pace commentator always for final imo for optimal entertainment, if we have that then AGS would be a nice addition on top. Or use different casting combinations at different stages of the tourney e.g. chill commentator combinations covering some of the earlier games would be fine, too

I think he got to the 2ND kill screen. It's nuts. He missed the first one from what I saw. (You needed like a triple or tetris on a level, and he missed it, but the next level every single had like a 73% chance to crash and he got it.
