I ran short of track for my 'just for fun' layout so I had to come up with a quick solution. This track is specific for the set I'm using so good old Blue Stuff came to the rescue

Brilliant Tom. I looking forward to seeing how the scenery turns out. Regards Michael

Thanks Michael, it saved me having to send off for an extra train set just for the single piece of track. This is a very cheap layout/diorama made mostly of scrap polystyrene but I plan to pack it full with scenery and features. All the best....Tom

Hi Tom. Great job in casting the track and this small layout looks interesting, and I look forward to seeing what you do with the scenery and how it turns out. Well done Tom. Regards George.....

Hi George, thanks very much my friend. I decided to build a layout for the toy trains set just for fun. It's grown a little larger than I intended (as these things tend to do...lol). I'll be using this one to brush up on my scenery techniques as I have some more small layouts planned. All the best....Tom

That’s brilliant Tom, what a great idea! I’ll have to try and get some of that blue stuff! Cheers mate, Sam :)
@tomjenssen74865 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam :) Thanks very much. Yes, it's a fantastic product that can be used again and again to make copies of almost anything. It comes in 4 and 8 bar packs...I recommend going for the 8 bar...I have 12 but I'll probably get some more so I can copy some big stuff :) All the best mate:)

I got some of that blue stuff after seeing one of your older videos, and it worked very well to fix some coaches with walls missing some broken off sections. I was able to replace some other missing parts with it as well. So thanks for the recommendation. I did prefer using stuff less brittle than milliput though.
@tomjenssen74865 жыл бұрын
Sounds great, it's a really useful product. I agree, Milliput's not the best for all applications, I guess I just got used to it. I have some other 'heat up' plastic to try out. What did you find was the best?
@wikingwideo5 жыл бұрын
Black milliput seemed to have a slightly smoother finish than regular milliput, but seems just as brittle. So I got some 2 part epoxy called "procreate putty". Much like green stuff, it bends rather than breaks, but I hear it's a bit stiffer than green stuff(which I haven't used yet.). There is a comparison video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ma-ZlcuFleDVl3k.html . I heard you can also mix milliput with it to get the best or worst of both worlds. the maker of the linked video made another video demonstrating some mixtures in part 2. Procreate putty comes with instructions explaining how different ratios of the 2 parts of 2 part epoxy can achieve different hardness/softness results. I wonder if other 2 part epoxies have the same ability to vary softness/hardness with different (unequal) ratios of the two parts. The procreate putty worked very well and durably on some thin flat coach walls which would have broken easily if it was done in milliput. I imagine it's not much different from green stuff. Apparently Oyumaru is a cheaper Japanese alternative to blue stuff;I wonder if they work together.

Thanks for the great info :) I'll definitely look into some of the alternatives. Miliput can be used 60/40 either way to make harder or softer. I'll be honest, I haven't (yet) had any problems with Milliput breaking. Yes, I've seen some videos on Oyumaru and it looks very good. Thanks again and all the best....Tom
