Exactly. How many people make it a custom to kick their filter every morning? Plus, it's not like the filter is permanent, you actually swap it every 6 months.

3:24 It's not a HEPA filter indeed, but for a room air purifier, 99.97% filtration does not provide added value above, say, 90%, because the ultra-clean air exhaust air is immediately mixed with the surrounding dirty air. In a closed room with 5 air changes per hour and no pollution sources, the particle concentration would be reduced by a factor 10 every 28 minutes for a 99.97% effective filter and every 31 minutes for a 90% effective filter. A lower-grade filter in a room purifier has huge advantages in terms of power consumption, noise production, and filter longevity. HEPA filters only make sense if the clean air is not mixed with dirty air, such as in industrial cleanrooms, where clean air comes in from the ceiling and dirty air is sucked out at floor level. It is more problematic that BlueAir does not provide any specifications on the filter performance of the Blue Pure devices, unlike their more expensive offerings.

I am looking for a air purifier to plug to a smart socket on Zigbee and Home Assistant. In order to work, I would need to switch it on and off remotely by switching on and off the socket remotely. When you use this air purifier do you have to press the switch on and off button on the top all the times?

Great review. I have a couple of these and am very happy with them. I have one in each of my bedrooms at highest speed and it works great. I also have a honeywell 300 for my living room. I experimented with it in my bedroom and found no real difference between the Honeywell and the Blue Air. Do you do reviews on humidifiers? There's so much there that I don't understand and would like something like this review.

There's Blueair 3210 and 3410 - what are your views on them? I'm leaning towards 3410 - £279 and filters are around £45 and need replacement every 6 month if used 247. Do you have a view on these air purifiers?

I like mine. Works well. I cannot open my bedroom windows so my room stank of my stale sweat, nocturnal farts and was dusty. I put it on for a few hours before bed and WOW! nice clean chilled, oudorless, fresh bedroom to sleep in. I LOVE IT

My mom has asthma, and the california fire season creates bad air quality. Will Blueair purifiers work well or do you think I should get a true HEPA filter like Coway?

I would recommend going with a true HEPA unit over a BlueAir unit unless you already have a BlueAir air purifier. If that is the case I would just stick with the BlueAir unit as it should work well enough for your application.

Note blue air states their units use electrostatic charge(ionization) to cause dust particles to stick to the filter material. Because of this “technology”, they don’t use hepa filters, but acheive a better result. However in these new units, the ionizer is after the filter, so particles have to make it back through the filter to get stuck in it. The rest will cling to anything else it comes in contact with first. If they had reversed the fan direction, it would be highly efficient.. as is, it does remove dust from the air, with the smaller particles having to be cleaned manually from all surfaces around it, including walls. So in a sense, it’s as good as hepa, it’s just unlikely that more than a fraction of the ionized particles will actually end up in the filter. Personally, i’d go with true hepa or a more expensive blueair unit, like the classic series, that ionizes before filtration. Otherwise maybe save money and just buy an ionizer? Then with either ionizing methods, there are questions about impact on health. Not to mention nothing except the filters in these units is serviceable. Blueair will insist you ship the unit to them at your expense after the short warranty period is up.

Everyone in the reviews for these say the filter gives off a acidic smell into the room so i’m skeptical to buy one. I’ll probably get a 211+ and see how it goes

BlueAir says their HEPASilent filter performs better than just HEPA (filters even smaller particles). That is why they don't call it HEPA. They also now have a new 250 cfm unit out, the BlueAir 311 AUTO.

It sounds like you are reading off a laptop. Have you ever done any real testing with appropriate sensors, gauges, etc.? I'm judging by another review I saw above your post and they do a smoke room test, measure decibels, and also check filtration count, even measure wattage, measure efficiency for different size rooms (150 Sq ft vs 300 Sq ft) and it appeared in their tests as being effective even in 300 Sq ft. It's great information and I'm seeing a lot of mixed information about HEPASILENT's efficiency as well (down to microns) however I am so much more skeptical of the Chinese knock offs in this price range and I think "aesthetics" is an overrated opinion of what kind of engineering was highlighted in the other video

You get more in depth but there's really no way to see the video of how you actually perform any tests. I can't take your opinion seriously if there's no credibility to base your claims. Here are some more scientific results: www.airpurifierfirst.com/review/blueair-blue-pure-411/ The stuff you complain about is part of the engineering. I learned from other videos that the fabric pre-filter covering the main filter allows for more suction (HEPASilent which through independent testing is as effective, and allows the Blue Pure 411 to be more energy efficient). Compare the overall wattage between your recommendations and I think that's where your video really fell short. You didn't do any lab testing and it sounded like you were reading manufacturer's specs and comparing numbers over real-time performance data and real metrics. Also judging by other air purifiers in this class the filter is much bigger relative to the purifiers size. If the filter allows it to be more energy efficient, and the fabric pre filter is easier to wash than cleaning a grill I'm surprised how you come to such conclusions. Also it's not entirely uncommon for manufacturers to go outside HEPA or CADR ratings for instance Dyson and while I would normally agree that HEPASilent is "newer" I think independent tests prove its overall effectiveness. Also there are articles which mention how UV light in air purifiers is useless: molekule.science/which-air-purifiers-are-ozone-free-comparing-ionizers-uv-c-and-hepa/

Also there is no mention of the "newer ionizer" or the different kinds of HEPA classifications that exist which makes this opinion misleading. There is a "medical" grade HEPA filtration however I found this purifiers efficiency to be better performing than any other I've tried. Also let's compare with independent tests that show Dyson's whopper as being as efficient as Blue Pure's 411: www.cnet.com/news/best-air-purifiers-for-2020-coway-dyson-blueair-and-more/

The Blue by Blueair purifiers actually only have a two year extended warranty vs the five year that their other products come with.

You are correct. It looks like they now distinguish between "Blue" units (2 years) and their other units (5 years), having a shorter warranty for the "Blue" units.

Consumer Analysis this is incorrect. The blue pure 411 I just purchased has a default warranty for 1 year. You can extend it to 5 years by registering the unit on the website within 3 minutes.
