Finally, we get our hands on Blueair 411. A fantastic air purifier that does not have a true HEPA filter, but it has one that is good enough to be called HEPASilent. Blueair, as a company, loves to create new things, walk where no man has walked before, and in such a way, creates unique patents.
Blueair 411 is mighty, and in this video, you can see all the good that this air purifier can do. We did many tests, and I am sure you will enjoy them. Check the results of our trials and see if Blueair 411 is what you need.

Just a suggestion - I bought this great air purifier, and love it. But my suggestion is, when you are going to clean the pre-filter, either vacuum it while the filter is ON the machine, or, if you are going to wash it, take the filter outside to remove the filter. If you remove the filter inside your home, all the larger dust particles that it has caught, will be thrown back into the air.

This was such a thorough and helpful review! I bought one after visiting a friend's apartment who had one and could noticeably tell the difference in air quality. I keep one in my bedroom on speed 3 for some added white noise, and it's really helped alleviate the itchy eyes I get with allergies. Obsessed with Blueair!

With your noise measurements at 5:19 , what was the distance between the microphone and the purifier unit? The industry standard is 1 m (3 ft 3 in), well away from reflecting walls and ceilings. The image for speed 2/3 looks like the microphone is right on top of the exhaust.
@AirPurifierFirst
@AirPurifierFirst 3 жыл бұрын
The distance is about 15.748 inches (40cm). We had in mind thing some people will use it just right next to them or on their working table. So, it's much more closer than industry standards suggest. But, thank you very much for that information. We'll keep it in mind, for the next reviews we do, for air purifiers, which are used for bigger rooms.

Would this help with the stench in my bathroom after I go #2? My wife and kids complain they can't enter the bathroom for up to 2 hours and 35 minutes (we timed it) because my farts are so putrid. Last month, two of my kids passed out when entering, like within one hour after I finished my dump. I forgot to warn them with the post-it note on the door like we agreed I'd do. My wife found them passed out on the bathroom rug in the doorway unconscious. She had to crawl dragging them to safety in the hallway for fresh air. I guess I've become immune to my own gas so it doesn't bother me the same way. 🙄💩

No, HEPA and electrostatic filters cannot remove odours. You would need to find an air purifier that has a significant amount of activated carbon to adsorb the odours. Examples include the Austin Air Healthmate or Healthmate Plus, IQ Air HealthPro Plus, and IQAir MultiGas. The Winix 5500-2 or an AirDoctor would also help, but you would need to replace the carbon filters more frequently than the other models I mentioned. Good luck 🤞

Forgot to mention: it is imperative to turn the bathroom exhaust fan *on* and leave it on for a while. Also, if your bathroom has a window, OPEN IT and leave it open for at least 15 minutes after.

Since this purifier has an ionizer, it means dust are more likely to fall onto surfaces which technically "purifies the air", do you notice any layer of dust on surfaces in the room? I think it'll be a good future test but may be time consuming.

Does it really has an ionizer? I looked at various sites and ionizer is not mentioned anywhere.
@SpykeZ0129
@SpykeZ0129 2 жыл бұрын
@@canuck21 No it doesnt. From their own FAQ, which apparently was too hard for the OP to look up. Do Blueair air purifier have an ionizer? An ionizer, or ionizer air cleaner, uses a high-voltage charge to produce and emit ions into the room as a means of cleaning the air1. The by-product can be ozone, yet at very low levels, as all household air cleaners sold on the US market must follow stringent regulations for ozone emissions. Instead of emitting ions into the room as a means of cleaning the air, Blueair air purifiers use a combination of mechanical and electrostatic filtration to remove even the tiniest particles (down to 0.1 μm) from indoor air. We call our filtration technology HEPASilent™. Whereas an ionizer, or ionizer air cleaner, uses a high-voltage charge to produce and emit ions into the room, Blueair’s HEPASilent technology, uses a fan to draw charged airborne pollutants into the air purifier so that they stick more effectively to the filter. This increases the filtration efficiency of Blueair air purifiers, while at the same time achieving a higher Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) and more silent and energy-efficient operation.
@AirPurifierFirst
@AirPurifierFirst 2 жыл бұрын
I have talked with Blueair support several times, and they state that every Blueair air purifier has an ionizer built-in. It’s called HEPASilent technology, and it is a combination of electrostatic and mechanical filtration. You can also confirm this if you read the Bleuair 411 energy star certificate results.

The CADR should be atleast 300 to be considered good and many of those air purifiers dont reach that :(
@AirPurifierFirst
@AirPurifierFirst 3 жыл бұрын
Hm, maybe, but there are other facts that you should consider when talking about air purifiers, such as filter efficiency and the size of the room where you are planning to use it.
@brandall101
@brandall101 3 жыл бұрын
It's their smallest unit, a $120 filter table-top filter, meant for small rooms such as a bedroom. CADR of 300 is a medium to large rooms. The 211 model is 350 and the 311 is 250 CADR. Blanket statements of 'good' like this don't help - you should buy a filter for the purpose... larger filters have higher operational costs by a non insignificant margin.

I got fooled by Blueair 411 presentation on their website, which led me to make a small lapse in the video. The Blue Pure 411 doesn't produce Ozone because it doesn't use an Ionizer! Besides, I have contacted them via Email and Facebook page but didn't get an answer to the question about the Ionizer. Also, I have found on Amazon one answer from the Blueair, in which they said that Blueair 411 has an Ionizer, but this comment is from 2018 I think.

At 3:22 you claim it's a HEPA filter (99.97% efficiency). It's not. The marketing material of the manufacturer leads you into believing that the Blue Pure line uses the same filtration technology as the more expensive offerings, which have a corona discharge ionizer upstream of the filter. Nowhere on the Blueair website there is any statement about the filtration efficiency of the Blue Pure 411 or 211 device. Not that it matters that much, since the clean exhaust air is mixed with the dirty ambient air anyway.
@AirPurifierFirst
@AirPurifierFirst 3 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but I said it removes 99.97% of particles with Blueair HEPASilent technology. You can read the explanation about removing particles from the air when using HEPASilent technology on the Blueair website. Here's the URL: www.blueair.com/gb/hepasilent-technology.html
@hankwangn

@@AirPurifierFirst Read carefully. The 411 product page mentions "HEPAsilent" at the bottom, but it does not claim anywhere that the 411 actually uses it. Neither does the product manual or their published test data. Bluair's patent (patents.google.com/patent/US20090151567A1/en ) describes a high-voltage ionizer sitting upstream of the filter medium, which is present in the Classic product line, but not in the Blue Pure line. It wouldn't be possible to do that safely anyway with the Pure design.
@davidaubuchon
@davidaubuchon 3 жыл бұрын
@@hankwangn I think you are right. The Amazon sales page for the 411 does not mention HEPA silent. Only their Classic ones do. I can't understand the patent well, but if I understand correctly, the only way to ensure ozone and negative ions are not getting into the ambient air is if the charged air passes through the filter before leaving. But the 411 seems to have the air pass through the filter and THEN get charged, and then is released to the room. So this seems to pose the safety hazard of the having more particle get deposited in the lungs: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0304388697001344 Do I have all that right? Also, I emailed the company a couple days ago asking if the new 411 Auto coming out had 99.7% efficacy as their Amazon ad claimed. Next day, the Amazon ad was gone.

@@hankwangn you're right, thats a play on words. its not a true HEPA filter. It just runs very quietly like one, very quiety. Also it's does not ionize the air at all! I have two 411's and one 211+. I've had them for about 4 years now.

Hi @pavy415, thanks for your comment. Smoke box presentation is real, and, ordinarily, air purifiers do not work as same as in the smoke box, because all rooms are far more spacious than this smoke box. Anyway, many factors are deserved for efficient air purification in the room eg, room size, air purifier airflow, the size of carbon filter, etc.

If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. kzfaq.infoUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
