Nice to see you hook up with the Johnny jigs crew. I have been following them for a couple years and gained so much from their content. Since I only get to fish a few times a year getting as much meat as possible each time out is the priority. I catch so much more slow pitching than any other way, it's almost cheating. Thanks for another great video.

In NC we have a fall run and a spring run of (what we call) False Albacore and also Bonito. We catch them on fly rods with small flies that mimic Glass Minnows. The False Albacore are fun to catch but we throw them back. The bonito are prized. They are usually within a mile of the beach but sometimes a little farther out. You have got to have a lot of backing on your fly reel.

@@lbbradley55 The Atlantic Bonito as shown in this video are very good to eat. But in certain areas, the people call the False Albacore a bonita and to my taste the False Albacore is inedible. I just release them or occasionally make bait of them. The False Albacore are very strong swimmers and are great fun to catch. I target them in the spring and the fall because they put up up such a hard fight. I live in NC. Good fishing.

On my 23.5' Chriscraft Seahawk about 10 miles off the Jersey shore in 92 we got into a huge school of Atlantic Bonito. Average fish was 2 to 3 lbs. with a couple 4 to 5 lbs. We were eating them raw on the boat. After we boated about 2 dozen we called it quits for the day. We could have caught more but why. One of the best fishing trips ever.

This is one of my favorite videos that you have done. The instructional side is helpful because I just moved to southern florida and I want to one day have your techniques down. Benito are excellent eating! Back in the '90s when I lived on Anna Maria Island off from Bradenton, I caught a 3ft. and the tourist next to me caught a 33". He gave me the fish. I thought I was going to cut them up for bait and an old fisherman said to bleed them out , fillet them and cut-out the bloodline. Soak them in buttermilk for 4hrs. then smoke them. Awesome fish. Saved a fillet to pan fry and came out just as good.

@@DirtyMyrtleOutdoors if you take highway 41 North in Bradenton to highway 19 North towards St Pete there is the old skyway bridge that both sides are set up as fishing piers. Not sure how much they charge now to get out there, if you end up going there, the south side is much better fishing than the North side. You're also right at the mouth of Tampa Bay.
