Will a rifled choke tube shoot Foster (aka rifled) slugs accurately? Video recorded at the Buffalo Rifle and Pistol Range.

Well, I am quite surprised it made that much of a difference. We filmed some stuff today using cylinder, full rifling and rifled choke and did not see improvements adding spin with the type of slug we were using. But it will give me an opportunity to send people over to THIS video.

As a guy who has shot a few shotgun slugs through cylinder bore and rifled chokes and barrels, I was surprised and impressed. Who knew it would make that much difference. Another classic Buffalo! Thanks! -OG. 😎👍

That’s very impressive, i’ve never seen a shotgun slug shoot that good, I would definitely say that rifled choke improved the group size

John here I wish you guys would stop using the cheap foster slugs and go with the Sabot style slugs 3x times the distance and just as damaging. And MOST OF ALL HALF THE KICK OF THE FOSTER SLUGS this 2020 not 1970 we have new and improved slugs. 3 top Sabot slugs federal Santos winchester xp and Hornady Acc tip for both smooth and rifle barrels the tighter the twist the better accuracy like rem 1.24 twist and 1.34 to 1.36 now the 1.34 twist and 1.36 needs slower and 1 oz Sabot for best accuracy. Try these guys I didn.t like Hornady Acc tip not enough bullet. Where Federal and winchester are murder bullets.

You use sabots with rifling and slugs with smooth bore. The slug has spirals molded into it, the sabot is smooth. The rifling of a slug screws up the rifling of the barrel. Shooting slugs through a rifled barrel and sabots through a smooth bore has always had worse results than when shooting them correctly. I don't know how you could possibly get better results. And chokes don't work at all. Just rifled barrels, the chokes were worse if anything.

Great content, thank you. For the individuals not comprehending the placement of the shots on the target, think of this as a consistency test and not a accuracy test.

I get a similar improvement in accuracy with my smooth bore Remington 870 with a rifled choke tube and foster type slugs. I was surprised at how much it tightened up my groups.

Buff, first off, that was probably one of the best slug groups I ever saw. That rifled choke tube made the difference. Worth the $50, for sure. Second, whenever I sight in any scope, I may zero in with bullseyes, but I always set my elevation a little higher, so I will have good shots out at longer range. You can always lower your aim point if you're shooting at closer range, like you did at 50 yards. Like always, enjoyed your videos.

Buffalo I have never seen a more eye opening video about shotguns. Yes, they will teach you ho to flinch. That's why I love my 28 gauge.
