Hey everyone - i was able to unlock the door without taking anything apart. Note - you'll still have to take the door card off to replace the broken actuator but you can at least have the door open while doing it. I just removed the small plastic round trim piece that surrounds the the actual lock knob that goes up when it's unlocked and down when it's locked. Just need a screw driver or pry tool and pried it up till it popped off. After that, just use needle nose pliers to pull up the lock knob and hold it there. While holding it up, click your fob unlock button and then try the handle. If that doesn't work, then click the lock button on your key fob once and pull the handle (all while holding the lock knob up). The latter worked for me several times in a row so it's repeatable and it only took a minute or so to do --- hope that helps

Its easier to just remove the door handle cable from the panel itself if you are just taking door panel off but was necessary to change the actuator

Hi Mate, I have the same issue in my 2008 e90, but all my doors are not unlocking with the remote. I can just lock the drivers door with the remote, but non of the other doors are locking or unlocking with the remote or the center locking button inside the car. All the welcome lights come up and when I try to unlock but non of the doors unlock. Can this be the same issue???

I have a BMW E93 and both doors are both locking sometimes. I don't have problem unlocking them, but I can't lock them and I have to leave the car unlocked. Later one when I drive it and I arrive home it will lock. Next day or couple of days later it will do the same. Does someone know what could be the problem? Is it something with the key (battery maybe) or something else...?

Usually, inside the actuator there's a cog and the teeth wear down resulting in the same issue. Rather than buying a whole unit it's worth opening the actuator and checking first as a repair kit is a couple of pound

When I try to unlock mine, the passenger door makes a "machine gun" noise, like it tries to unlock 3-4 times and then it gives up. What can possibly be the problem? Same happening to a Mercedes w211

That sound is your door actuator skipping, needs to be refurbished or replaced

Hi my key fob won’t unlock or lock the doors all 4 doors unlock when I use the little key it’s starts the car fine so am not sure I have checked all fuses all ok what could it be is it the actuator

Baber Hussain most likely you might have to reprogram your key. Look on KZfaq how to reprogram your key.

I did all this but the latch doesn’t want to open any reason why ? I just replaced the actuator, the door is stuck doesn’t open from inside or out and the door lock slides up and down but won’t open I need help ASAP as I am currently working on the door being stuck

Did you put both ends of the cable back (shown from5:45 in the video)? Its an easily missed step (both the very end of the cable into the grip, and the white plastic piece slotted into the metal actuator lever about an inch from the end) and fiddly to get right so the metal lever actually moves. It's that metal lever that opens the latch; if your lock pin is moving up and down, sounds like everything else is in place.

That background bass line was so off, total trainwreck. Especially when trying to hear what you are muttering. Feeling sick because of the 'shaky cam.' The trifecta. Add in constant advertising...big NO
