Just finished changing out my rear door actuator on my 2009 BMW 328i. After watching your video the process made it much easier for me. Your video is very informative and the instructions are easy to follow. My wife is so happy that it now works as it should. 😅

One of the better videos on how to deal with the connections to the latch from the blind side. Most of all the other videos gloss over this and yet is a frustrating part of the repair. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you accomplished this repair.

Thanks a lot, my friend. God bless you!!! Take care! Really have no idea of how much I was going to be charged to do this job which is so tricky!!! Isn't it? Have a nice time!!! Bye!!

Since I posted my question I have carried out a front door lock replacement. It’s identical to the front other than you need to remove the bolt securing the lower window channel and slacking off the top one. With a bit of gentle persuasion the lock mechanism can easily be removed. 30min job start to finish.

Thanks so much for this! I'm about to do this on my E91 estate, rear right. Having seen the procedure helps immensely. I was thinking about tearing the door down, and then, given that like in the video, my door lock motor is able to lock, just nut unlock, sort of means it's alive. I figured that could mean some pulling wire has gone off some hook or something. But now after seeing the video, I'll just order the replacement motor and replace it, with this video to guide me. Thanks again!

Instead if making a mess with the seal glue. Use a razor blade and cut throught it. It will not create strands and make a mess everywhere. Its easier to reinstall as well.

This was extremely helpful, thank you! After putting it all back together, I realized I didn't secure the puddle lamp wire to the actuator. Is the purpose of that to give clearance to the window as it rolls down?

Did you find an answer to this? BMW on Amazon says the part number is 51-22-7-202-147, but when i search by that part number, all other sellers say it won't fit my 328i 2007. It's very confusing.
@lilclipps
@lilclipps 6 жыл бұрын
Yes i did find the correct part and yes it was fairly confusing. The part number you listed ended up being the correct one for my year. Unfortunately, BMW makes it even that much more difficult to get the correct part, by having different part numbers based on the year and MONTH your car was produced..... I used realoem . com to pin point the proper part # for my BMW's year and month. Using that website was very beneficial, it also gives you the "updated" part #. I wish you the best of lock lol (pun intended). If you have any other inquires feel free to ask.

@TelstarTAK

Thanks for the video. I have an issue with my rear left on my E90. Do you know if there's a way to open the door manually from inside? I have the door card removed and it opened a couple of times initially from inside using the internal latch, but now it won't open. The mechanism just rattles when I use the remote fob, but the door lock doesn't open, so i can't remove and replace the lock.

@TelstarTAK

@@taylorgiroux9870 it was a while ago now. I think I removed the metal lever from its plastic mount that operates the lock and used a flat head screw driver to turn the mechanism inside. I think it was inserted at an angle but possible to do if you persist.

@Vehicular DIY 1:30 I see the circlip that attaches to the door lock rod. Does that need to be inserted into the actuator before the lock rod goes in? After fixing a regulator, I broke a circlip by slamming the door closed on the dangling lock rod. Bought a new circlip and put it on the lock rod first. Now unable to pop the lock rod into the actuator.
@VehicularDIY

I had the same issue, i removed the door panel from the inside, pulled back the insulation and reached in. On the actuator itself theres a tab that hooks the cable from the handle if you reach in there and push down on that tab it will open the door, so you can finish the job like he does in the video. Hope this help and Good luck.
