Such a great video. Very clear filming for being under the car. Also, actual knowledge of the process. So many videos of people figuring it out as they go.

Absolutely beautiful car. I was surprised how clean the under side was. It looks like you learned a lot and you did an excellent job with the video. While your car was idling it sounded like your VANOS was rattling. This is a common problem on these cars. You should research this and maybe some day change your vanos seals. Take a look at the Beisan Systems website. /John

Thanks for your comment. I did have other issues with Vanos solenoid board which was addressed in my other video - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/asCjmZyYysWUdYU.html. But did not address the rattle noise as it seemed like an overkill at the moment and did not have any functional issue. May be sometime later :) will revisit the rattle issue.

Great video, thanks for taking the time. I was wondering, did you use the transmission jack to reinstall the transmission or did you muscle it back into place? I guess the real question is, is the trans jack really necessary/ helpful?
@vijaypguna
@vijaypguna 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gabe. Thanks for your comments. I did use a transmission jack. Refer at 13:15. Doing this as the 1st time, it really helped me a lot in terms of more confidence. Also to mention I felt more safer.

good job on doing this, i've done this job before it's not as easy as youtube makes it lol. kinda concerned that you're down there playing with the clutch dust on the flywheel...there is asbestos material in the clutch!
@vijaypguna
@vijaypguna 5 жыл бұрын
Thx Steve. You are right. It is not as easy as it looks, but if you take your time you can do it right. Regarding the clutch dust, I was aware of it and was using a particle mask while cleaning, but didn't while remove the pressure plate. It was not windy, but will take your advice as a best practice in future. Thanks.

I’m having a weird squeak sound when I press down on the pedal . What do you think it can be ?
@vijaypguna
@vijaypguna 4 жыл бұрын
Even with engine off I had squeak when I pressed the clutch pedal. It was the diaphragm spring in pressure plate and was resolved with the new clutch kit. Sometime this could also be an indication of a failing Pressure plate eventually causing it lose clamping power. If it happens only with Engine on and during clutch pressed to floor, I would suspect throw out bearing. Best of luck.

Did you inspect your rear main crank seal while you have the transmission off?
@vijaypguna
@vijaypguna 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for bringing this up. It does require a special T60 Torx Socket - BMW3048 to remove the flywheel for the seal to be properly inspected/replaced. Instead I did a visual inspection around the flywheel and didn't notice any oil leak. So took a call to ignore it for now.
