BMW E60 M5 Windscreen / Windshield Washer Pump Replacement

4 жыл бұрынIn this video we take a look at the steps required to replace the windscreen / windshield washer pump on an E60 M5. The video is also relevant to most other E60 BMW’s. The replacement was carried out due to the existing pump leaking- which a very common across many BMW models.

Headlamp washer pump grommet/strainer 61678374382
Anyone know why the wipers travel the wrong way on a right hand drive E60? Comment below if you can make sense of that one!

My repair shop guy gave me the estimate for washer pump replacement. It said the pump costs $95 plus labor costs $500! He said this is very complicated job. Well, It looks not too complicated after watched your vid. Thanks!

I got this one from Pelican Parts in North America. It’s a common BMW part so should be easy to find elsewhere too. Part numbers in the description 👍

do you have to re-pressurise the headlight washer pump?

Refill the reservoir, then run the pump and the system will prime itself 👍

Why you change the pump? If you change de rubber grommet/streiner shouldn’t be enough to avoid the leak?. No?

Shaft seal within the pump had gone, fluid was leaking from the pump weep hole- common problem. Sometimes the pump housing can crack causing leaks too.

@@MTechGuy ok. I changed my pump without disconnecting my battery and now the car won't start. Guess I zapped something
