bmw 420D SE 2015 gran coupe Changed the fuel filter in this video. Its not difficult but it is fiddly.
But the video shows and explains everything you need to know
tools required are
10 mm socket
13 mm socket
small flat blade screw driver
pliers to bend metal tongs
bucket for emptying fuel filter

To prevent unwanted air in the system, add diesel to the filter before you install it. At least it worked in old Focus (MK1) - of course this one is in more awkward position, than Ford's.

It wouldn't work because this is a sealed filter/ in line filter if I remember right

Why would you change the fuel filter ? What is the benefit?

It filters the fuel so any bits will be caught in it and it separates water A filter can only hold so much and will eventually stop being effective meaning bits mass pass in to your engine
