@@kennedysgarage3281likewise! Fighting with an f10 which was already been hacked before me, but they didn't removed the pin, just the motor insides. Very dangerous because if it would have got in locked position during driving.... pfff! Anyways... excellent video for someone who knows what to look for, I knew there was a pin but I didn't look on the side (it's a LHD)😂 Keep them coming!

Thank you for these last couple of videos. Just FYI, intermittent ELV faults cause a counter to start incrementing... After X amount of problems the CAS will just stop trying to activate the ELV solenoid and you'll be left with the red steering lock failure. Basically, as soon as you have your first Amber steering lock warning I think it would be wise to get an emulator in place. If you have the red steering wheel ELV lock warning you'll need to use Tool32 to reset fault counter first to fully make the car happy that everything is ok again.

I have Amber light steering lock, driving me crazy. vehicle stuck in Park (auto trans) Emulator might work? thanks!
@SabretoothBarnacle2 жыл бұрын
@@johngalv9288 Try the ELV emulator first... If you still get the amber warning then it's your CAS that's the issue. I ended up getting a used CAS3 module off ebay for £20 and then found a service that cloned my old CAS details to the replacement unit plus performed an ELV 'delete' from the replacement unit. The programming plus delete cost me £70 all in and I've never had an issue since. Just to note, obviously deleting the ELV from software means the lock will no longer be operated by the CAS unit, therefore make sure your steering lock is OFF before you remove the CAS for cloning/ELV deletion 👍🏻

@@SabretoothBarnacle Thanks for the reply! I'll try the emulator and see what happens, you'd think BMW would offer a simple solution at this point because newer cars are no longer equipped with lock? thanks!
@johngalv9288 Жыл бұрын
Very frustrating! My car is still on jacks and I've found no solution other than taking it to a bmw mechanic, but I'm not ready to give up yet. Plus, the car is stuck in Park and Steering locked! This is a nightmare! You had me laughing when you held the little spring... I needed that! Thanks for the video.

@@kennedysgarage3281 Thanks! I ignored for a couple of weeks, Repair shop wants $1,700.00 to fix. Winter is coming I need to work on it soon. I'll try to remove the steering column and physically remove the lock. or I'll try to remove the spring. I have the Emulator. Your video is helpful.

Hi I have removed the cover for the lock and replaced the motor and circuit board with one that works, but now closing it back up still doesn’t release the lock… is there a mechanism that stops the lock unlocking once you open the cover, you mentioned something about this but I’m not sure if you are saying the only way to unlock is by taking out the sprint?

It is like anything, if done incorrectly yes it could possibly lock while moving. So be careful when doing it to do it correctly
