Well, I haven't played with the app and I don't know what all it will tell me, most of which I probably don't need. However. as far as being easy to use for a near-Luddite, I was quite impressed. Unlike my old Chrony that would sometimes drop shots (failure to even read them) or give me errors, particularly on a cloudy day, this one picked up every shot and I had no errors. I didn't have to reshoot anything because of it. Since it is radar, I should be able to get velocity information after dark as well....given so much of what I do goes on after dark. The price is ridiculous, but if you are going to pay a ridiculous price, then the product should work very well. So far, that is my impression. It works very well.

It is a nicely capable 384 resolution thermal sight. I am enjoying using it.

More and better. Garbage data are data, but they are garbage and right now what I have is just slightly better than that.

I have not tried that, yet, but no reason it should not.

Hey Brian! Well I sat in a box blind for 6 hours waiting on hogs, but saw none. However, I brought the Garmin with me in hopes of getting chrono readings on the particular shots (since I was in the stand) but since that didn't happen, I did a single verification shot. Worked like a fricking charm! It will work fine in the dark, as expected.

@CarpeSus Thank you! What an outstanding little machine these things are. Sorry the hunt didn't go better, but maybe it is a sign that you are controlling the numbers.

Their 24" test barrel gives them 2730 fps according to Hornady. My 18" barrel is giving me 2584 which I agree sounds a tad shy. Assuming an average loss of 25 fps per inch, that would give me about 2580 fps, so that is pretty close. If you assume 20 fps loss per inch, then I am a bit shy.

Both of the hogs were hits twice on the opener. The first was apparently hit high on the shoulder and through the mid section (liver shot) and the shoulder was too high. With the bullet through the liver, this hog was apt to die, likely within minutes. The second hog was apparently hit through the shoulder (boilerroom). I could see where it looks like one bullet took out the front leg and so I would assume the bullet did go into the chest cavity (maybe not). Either way, the shots were not immediately fatal and it ran. I would not have expected it to get more than 100 yards or so, but it did. By my estimate from where it was, it need as little as 300 yards to get off property to as much as just over 400 (depending on which fence it went out). The pasture is well grazed and he hog was definitely nowhere evident, so it made it off property, but I am confident it died quickly. Addressing your question differently, I think it was a few years ago that I recall my first time team shooting a hog that didn't fall over after the initial volley, much less to run. Now, I have experienced it a few times. Usually, they don't go far.

Well yes! Berger VLD-Hunting are a frangible bullet and are even marketed as such.

I think if we slowed down and just hunted, there would be less practice and more hogs down. It is not too often anymore than we don't have multiple things going on with these hunts aside from comradery and dealing with feral hogs. I do work for Rix Optics. Ben does work for Bering Optics. I am trying to see how Grendel bullets are doing. Ben is trying every other rifle and caliber he can get his hands on and shoot.
