Awww that’s our old neighbour at shipwrecks bay. He could launch a boat in any weather. Awesome old man he was!!
@skateboardkid4202 жыл бұрын
Yeah he definitely knew what he as doing made it look easy. I had enough trouble trying to go out on a surfboard.

Great video, it shows how beautiful ninety mile beach really is. With the shore break, its not an easy launch for a fishing boat. Good job people, well done.

Yeah, bro spud. A lovely day on 90 mile. They fish in insane conditions, the launch is the easiest part of their day. Pulling cray pots in the reefs when it's pumping is where the fun is at. Exceedingly large nuts on those lads.

does anyone know the builder/make of that cat? looks industrial strength to me. Great launch.
@1998TDM6 жыл бұрын
It's specially made, used as a cray boat and they also do fishing charters. Wildcat fishing IIRC, the Moro brothers. The "thinnest" alloy on the boat is 9mm. Last time I was out with them they had twin 350 mercs. As said that's quite a calm day. The guys often have pots inside of reef breaks and they duck in, in between wave sets to lift or drop them. The boat has to be able to accelerate out when a set hits so they don't get reefed. It's an incredible operation! Oh, fantastic fishing charter, too. It's like Jurassic park out there. The Tasman often pumps 6mtr swells and gets a lot heavier!

Agree with Andre, come see the real deal in SA. Get in the channel get on a plane draw figures of eight so you are punching the foamies, in a cat almost chest on but at slight angle, to avoid it bucking, don't panic, don't creep to the backline until the sets lay down they inevitably always will.Did this for years in S Africa Umdloti beach.When on the plane you can go into your corners with momentum even tapping off slightly to avoid cavitation. If cavitation back off then apply power gradually.

They beach the craft, drag it over the sand and then winch it up on the trailer
@renee91132 жыл бұрын
@@howzit5406 no not this one 🤦♀️ that’s what all the city folk do. This boat is too big to drag.
@howzit54062 жыл бұрын
@@renee9113 the boat gets hitched where it beaches and dragged over the sand on to the trailer with the winch. You don’t drive the boat up on the trailer as you would on a boat ramp with incoming swell. FYI that’s a aluminium boat, light for its size.
@renee91132 жыл бұрын
@@howzit5406 I’m telling you what I know he does. That’s why he has a tractor. He doesn’t drag his boat. Same way he offloads he loads it. He goes out on an outgoing tide and returns on the incoming tide.

Skateboardkid... They call deep sea fishing boats just like this cat in the vid a "ski boat" in South Africa, they don't mean something you tow people just strange different names I admit it can get a little confusing. Cheers!

Look like my cousins, those guys know what they are doing, they do it there cos they live there, and the fishing is great, snapper kingfish marlin Tuna and all the rest. They don't do it because they want to be harder than a few dumb South Africans they do it because its home. Tractor needs new air filters Guys.

According to top gear the beach is not actually 90 miles long haha
@renee91132 жыл бұрын
That’s right it’s a lot shorter but that name was given back in the old days by the European settlers who had no way of measuring but by the distance their horse’s could travel. Quite interesting really.

coock strait is the ruffets beach in nz
@annakeye5 жыл бұрын
*+Barry James* Your comment makes absolutely no sense. And I don't just mean the spelling. There is no such place as *coock strait* and I don't know what *ruffets beach* is. Or where. Ohh.., right, I get it. Cook Strait. Which most certainly is +not+ a beach but it can be a challenging 23 kilometre stretch of water. And it is beautiful. After you've done your remedial English lessons, perhaps you may want to take a cruise on the Inter island Ferry. No matter what the weather, it is always a fabulous trip.
