I am. I was a HUGE fan in my late teens in the 70's of Bob Marley, still am. I had all his albums in vinyl. Lol .Going through a tough, serious illness, and I'm here reminiscing. My soul feels better, lighter, listening to his music. He had such wisdom. It saddens me to see all the divisiveness in the world today. He was truly a force for good. ❤

At this point of their journey they were simply "The Wailers" and brillient but then Peter & Bunny would depart, leaving it to become "Bob Marley & The Wailers" to the world.

Sadly, Bob died when I was 18, travelling in Australia, but I got to see Peter tosh play in Vancouver a few years later. Fuck! where did all that time go. now 62.

Watching this video really shocked me into reality. I remember as a 9 year old when this song came out. And to see these guys playing and knowing that they are all gone is just unbelievable to me.

Interestingly, that is only mostly true, because today I learned that they are singing to a backingtrack, prerecorded by producer Chris Blackwell, and the wah wah guitar is not Peter or Bob, but a legendary white guitarist from Alabama named Wayne Perkins, who had worked with many great artists. He is on 3 tracks of the Catch a Fire album, and this recording, and he did an amazing job. But yeah, all of The Wailers are gone now sadly :(

1973 last week of August was my first trip to Negril I had just turned 17 went by myself. I remember listening to this over a horn speaker up on a telephone pole. I then said”Listen to Peter Tosh when he does his “BIT”,Bridge,Rift??, I don’t What the proper term is,My FRIEND,In my opinion,The way he “PLAYED”WAS,IS,? I suspect that that they half lipsynched it. The original lead guitar was played by The White Wailer (cause he was white - fact) and sounds eerily like that. If Peter managed to play it like that great, but otherwise credit to the white wailer I will name him in the next comment.

I'm old enough to remember when black recording artists in America played instruments. It doesn't get better than 60's-70's Motown and Reggae. And thank you Chris Blackwell, or we would never have heard The Wailers - The best of the best.
