I think The Court of Owls are better utilized for the DCU Batman than Reeves's The Batman world. One of the reason are the Bat Family. In The Court of Owls story, Batman was not alone when dealing with The Court, he has the Bat Family. It would be cool to see a live action movie of Batman and the the Bat Family faces The Court of Owls. If there's a Nightwing movie, you can sprinkle some hints of The Court of Owls. Dick Grayson was meant to be a Talon for The Court before his parents died and Bruce took him in.

After reading Batman: The Imposter (really great story), I do like to see that be adapted for Reeve's The Batman sequel. I also thought it would be great if they combined two stories: The Imposter and Prey. Hugo Strange as the main villain. In Prey, Strange hypnotized a cop into believing he's better than Batman and made him fight criminals as a vigilante, Night Scourge. Rather than this Night Scourge character in the comic book, you can change it to the Batman Imposter. Prey introduced Hugo Strange's obsession of Batman; wanting to be Batman and he created a homemade Batman suit for himself. I want a scene like in the Prey comic book of Hugo Strange in a Batman suit, talking to someone, sharing his thoughts about Batman, figuring out how to be Batman, and the person he's talking to reveals to be a mannequin woman.

There’s such potential for a comic accurate Bane in this universe. Giving Bruce/Batman an equal in terms of intelligence, physicality and strength would be such an interesting take. It could be a later movie in the series but giving Bane the role that Deathstroke had in the solo Batfleck film (pretty much destroying Bruce’s and Batman’s world) would be awesome to see.

I can't wait for Battinson amd the GCPD to gain more respect for each other as the trilogy progresses. Sort of how in Arkham Asylum the prison guards call Batman "sir". I just think that's so cool

Something I need in the next Batman, aside from all the fanboyish story ideas I have, is more Bruce/Alfred time. Something showing Bruce and Alfred are working on together, or a scene like in the phantasm “vengeance blackens the soul Bruce”. That’s one of thing I think the first movie was lacking, showing that alfred is the only one Batman really trusts, and how they interact.

I thought that The Batman did an awesome job of pacing and inner dialogue. Really felt like how a batman movie should be. And court of owls, definitely would be a good one for the DCU batman.

I’d love to see a suit up scene in The Batman 2. We only saw Bruce put on the eye makeup but that was it.

Just watched The Batman days ago again. The Batman is the perfect Batman movie that established the perfect and the most accurate Batman world albeit more grounded. Everyone sees Batman differently in their head I guess, their own perception, this is mine. This is the Arkham Origins Batman and that world in live action. Heck, even in the last fight with Riddler's goons felt like an episode of the Animated Series. Trolls can continue to live in the past or wait for the new Batman in the new DC Universe that they're making.

Armor realistically does have a shelf life. Plates can only be used for so long and break after use. Practically it makes sense for Bruce to advance or replace something if he thinks it is faulty. We are left with a different Bruce Wayne after the batman who is still learning to let people in. Lucius makes sense as the next step in Bruce's journey.

What excites me the most about the Arkham series is the opportunity to showcase many lesser known villains in the Batman universe that may not otherwise be considered for a film. Characters like Victor Zsasz, the Ventriloquist and Killer Croc would be amazing and Hugo Strange would be the perfect antagonist. Seeing him torture and experiment on the inmates would but a fascinating threat. I also hope the series will be heavily inspired by A Serious House On Serious Earth in how the tone of the asylum is presented and to depict Killer Croc as the almost mythical figure of the "dragon" that haunts the hospital before slowly peeling back the layers of what makes him such a complex and tortured man would be an ingenious way to depict him in this universe.

I completely agree with your perspective on the court of owls. It would be repetitive and actually take away from the impact of the first movie. Instead of it needing to be about the people of Gotham doing better looking after each other and bringing back hope, it would kind of put the blame on this super secret society.

Pattinson is an amazing Batman/Bruce, I don't understand the negative comments about him, he can littery just stand there in the suit and set the scene and tell the story with his eyes through the cowl and slight manorisms, he doesnt have to be jumping around fighting mobs all the time to be "Batman"

I think it's worth it to wait for joker to be in the third film and use Clay face freeze scarecrow or poison ivy in the second one besides joker is an arch nemesis to batman

With a suite change, I really hope they keep the current cowl. I think its the best we have gotten so far! I 100% agree on court of owls. Would love to see a more in-depth live action version of this too, and think that with it being a "newer" Batman storyline, could be refreshing to see in a movie. Love the videos, keep them coming!

I think if they do use court of the owls, they save it for the third film as some sort of overarching theme and story. I definitely think they’ll keep the noir detective motif in the sequel but I wouldn’t be surprised if the next film has a more physical villain. I’m not suggesting the film goes full on Cameron’s Aliens where the film is almost a different genre than the first. I want them to continue showing Bruce become the the worlds greatest detective while also displaying his elite fighting skills and physical prowess. The first film challenged Batman as a detective, I could see the sequel challenge him on a more physical level.

Hey Boba, absolutley love your channel and this discussion series, I always thought that it would be cool to have the next movie be more stealth focused. You would get the detective mode feature and maybe a cool scene like in the Arkham games where he is sneaking under grates and swinging from gargoyle to gargoyle, but im not sure that this would happen, what do you think?

Since part 1 focused on an intellectual/psychological challenge, I think part 2 should focus more on a physical challenge i.e. Clayface, Mr. Freeze, Bane. And than wrap it up in part 3 where he's gotta face intellectual, psych, physical & emotional (the people Bruce now cares about). Keep up the good work B

I get that people are fans and like the idea but the most we would ever get is a reference like Nolan’s Batman. Reeves and Greig Fraser talk constantly about his eyes and how important they are for scenes. For some reason people think he should have a blue and yellow suit and white eyes and it drives me nuts! Might become the Joker if I see much more of that. 😂

I feel like the Court of Owls won't get a whole movie dedicated to them but they will always be present. We will always see clues like the Who Card or even Owls on the Walls etc. I could even see the whole trilogy ending with nothing but clues to their existence teasing at a possible extended Reevesverse.

We saw in small glimpses that he can just disappear or appear without alerting anyone. However, bruce when in combat goes in all guns blazing (no pun intended). Great review. You always provide a great review, Being a "Dark Knight" fan...you are always on the mark. Batman, in my humble opinion, is the best superhero because he is the most human. Batman is the most relatable for us "average" people. This is why he has successfully survived many renditions and developments...he is still The Batman after 80 or more years. My first comic book was Batman in 1971 "Man with Ten Eyes" Issue 231 . I was only eight years old. Today, I still throughly enjoy Batman today I am glad that you are a big Batman fan too! If they introduce Batwoman in a future project. Who do you think would play her? My personal choice is Kate Siegel based sole on her role as Theo in The Haunting of Hill House. That character just SCREAMS Batwoman - seriously watch any clip and you can see she can every aspect of Kate Kane. She's a HIGHLY underated character and deserves more recognition in media. Personally I think the court should be the villians for a dcu batman film. I would like Mr freeze as the main villian for the batman part 2, and hush for part 3. While the dcu I think the first film it should be the league of shadows, the second film red good and the 3rd film the court

I am writing this before watching the full video. In the first film, Matt definitely shows and highlights the trials and errors of a young Bruce/Batman but also gives enough clues that he is actively improving them. I personally really like the carpet tool used as a weapon and it took an average citizen/cop to put that information together which, in my opinion was very humbling to Bruce as a person. After that part, he is more aware and in touch with not only being a vigilante but also just being a good human in general. I think the sequel could be a time jump where Bruce is a more matured version and has a more active role in Wayne ent as well as the education and policing of Gotham. This could go to show that the true villains had to hide and grow in the underground and behind the curtains in order to gain a following and power. The fact that Matt left it so open for interpretation just goes to show that he is in this for the fans and I am so excited to see what he comes up with!

Personally for the sequel I want Mr. Freeze, Mad Hatter, Clayface or Azrael. You might think Azrael is a strange choice however I believe it will create a great opposite of Batman, as having a Batman who kills who is trying to alter the symbol of what the Batman as meant to represent

i also noticed after several watches of The Batman, batman does not disguise his voice when talking to Gordon but he does with everybody else. and even with selena when she contacts him an ask where can they meet he talks like bruce

i would love it if in the new movie it dives more into what it means for batman to be a hero. keep the mystery aspect of it like he’s trying to figure out where things happen and get clues of who is doing everything but i think that would be nice. make his antagonist mr freeze or bane but someone that really really puts ppl in danger and is a physical threat to batman so he has to use his intellect and detective skills to find out who, where, why, and how

I like having Hugo Strange as the main villian. He could be introduced in the Arkham Series & The Batman 2 could pick up with Bruce Wayne committing more of his time (unmasked) to help the city, starting with his mother's namesake; Arkham Asylum. I see the plot as Bruce discovering some sort of conspiracy behind what is going on at Arkham with Strange at the head. More Bruce Wayne, more Alfred, more stealth & gadget combat

I think shows should serve as building a character up for their film debuts give them details and space to breathe so the films can take advantage of their full capabilities

I agree with some of the comments already about the Court of Owls for the third movie. I agree with you Boba that the sequel needs to have a different villain and feel just to have variety (Mr. Freeze being perfect in my opinion). I feel that with the Court Batman would need help taking them down, and it would be a perfect way to introduce Robin just for that. Seeing the two taking on a group of talons would be sick. It would also be interesting for Penguin, him having the place of top dog during the second movie, and then realizing that he still isn't quite there. What do you think? Keep up the good work

As always, really enjoy your commentary, as well as the community's input. There are some great ideas floating around this channel. I love the idea of an Arkham show starring Harleen Quinzel, but I think you're right. There's enough Harley Quinn already, what with Joker 2 and whatever they plan next for Margot Robbie (whatever else happened over the last decade, Robbie's Quinn emerged from the DCEU as a bona fide pop culture icon) Plus the excellent animated series. I think whatever is next for Reeves' Batverse, it's not going to be an expansive shared universe. I sincerely doubt they'll even do Robin. That, they'll save for the Gunn-verse reboot. I also don't see the Joker becoming the "final boss" of the Reeves trilogy. I think he's gonna want to focus on less over-used rogues. No one, least of all Reeves himself, seemed overly enthused about this version of the Joker. He almost seems like a studio mandate that they had to include. "You gotta have the Joker, and he should be even more #EXTREME than ever." So now there's a new regime, we may never see him again. I suspect Joker will remain a side-character. I do love the idea of Batman powering through Arkham Asylum in the final film, but I see that as more a final showdown sequence than the setting of a whole movie. I think Batman descending into the asylum to confront all his past enemies would be a fantastic final act for the trilogy. but I think it needs more set-up than just two films. Also, I think we forget that films need to stand alone, rather than act as episodes in a single narrative. Whatever goes on in the Penguin show, the details won't likely be necessary info for the next film. When we return to Reeves' Gotham for The Batman 2, Penguin will be the new Falcone. The show will tell us the steps he takes to get to that place, and add dimension to his character, but I don't see any of it being essential reading for the film. We'll just pick up with a new, improved Penguin. For the same reason, I agree there won't be a Court of Owls. Inserting them now would require retconning or contradicting the corruption story in the first film. Going back and revisiting The Batman and explaining how that was only half the story? That's serialized TV stuff, not tentpole films. Rewriting the first movie is a waste of a second movie. The Batman 2 should say, "this is what happens next," rather than, "but what really happened was this." I suspect the upcoming film will be about the power vacuum, and Batman trying to prevent Penguin from filling it. That's the story moving forward, as I see it. But we'll see.

Regarding the suit upgrade, I'm curious if they'll have Alfred doing mechanical stuff. We've already seen that he helps with the detective work and that he's not just a butler but has seen combat experience in his younger days. Not to draw any comparisons but it was kinda cool seeing Alfred do stuff like work on the suit and other equipment in the Justice league movie. I wonder if they will do something similar.

I bet there was a court of owls undertone written into the first film. I need to rewatch with that focus alone in mind.

What do you think of this theory for the Arkham show: I think that the show will have the Joker as the main character and each episode introduce a new villain who he meets and befriends, then in the the final episode, they stage a heist and all of the villains are let lose on Gotham staging the next movie

I think they’ll adapt “the war on jokes and riddles” I mean you’re gonna introduce all these new villains in the Arkham series. Maybe later you see Riddler and Joker start a war in Gotham with all the villains

It could show that Bruce has been overwhelmed with trying to stop Oz's operations but can't always because of over crimes .

I hope Court of Owls is teased at the end of the third movie to set up the next chapter in the series, after Batman does away with Penguin and all of the Gotham crime families. A second trilogy centred around the Court would be awesome. They could go full James Bond style with it where Daniel Craig’s entire run was centred around Spectre.

The Reaper would be the best option in my opinion. Have him meet an older violent theatrical vigilante that didn't save his family and is jealous of the love Batman gets from the city. The character development leading into cat and mouse battle would be amazing.

While I agree that having the sequel focusing on corruption would be repetitive, I can sorta imagine it as instead of "corruption unmasked", it can be "corruption adapting and how it survives in times of crisis". So how would Riddler's actions affect the trilogy moving forward? If I'm viewing each movie as an act in the 3 act structure. *The Batman* with the purpose of setting the world, introducing the characters, and addressing the problem. this sequel can show how Riddler's actions can cause certain people to act. Whether it's the citizens of Gotham being more cautious of the people in power, Court of Owls needing to adapt or get rid of Edward, or other characters like Mister Freeze, Poison Ivy, etc. taking advantage of the flooding. I also thought maybe a sequel with Hugo Strange can still involve corruption to some extent but leaning towards the psychological angle.

Andor and rogue one are prequels to events that happened in the star wars movies. The Penguin series is a bridge show between the first and second The Batman movies. So it will give fleshing of Penguin’s rise as you have said but I don’t think it is something people should be worried about not having Max and missing story elements in the next movie. The next movie of course will have references to the show but nothing that leaves the movie viewer confused because those references can be chalked up to time has passed between the 2 movies. So show or not I believe the same references to penguin’s rise would be made

Ayyyyyyyyyyy new Batman Episode

Great episode as always Boba! I do agree with the Arkham Asylum series being an anthology which focuses on different characters perspectives. Like one episode could focus on a doctor/psychiatrist interviewing a patient at Arkham or another episode focusing on another member of staff. One episode I’d like to see is the founding of Arkham by Amadeus Arkham and how he ended up going insane and became a patient within his own asylum.

I believe a subplot will be the “Drops War” with The Penguin vs Salvatore Maroni. I’m willing to bet the Drops will be like the Iron Throne for the mob in this universe.

hey boba, please think, we see almost always in a sequel suit, armour gadgets, technology are changed, but we never see the ones already there fully explored, like in art of the batman or prequel riddler comic or novel, there are things like batarangs, knuckels, nanchaku, etc. i think it should be explored, also there would be many things and like lab in batcave should also be explored. and suit etc should also same, it would let also more focus on story.

One of the biggest issue of the court of Owl in the comic is that they don't get any proper build up. We don't actually know the people who run the court of Owl other than the fact that they are Gotham Elites. The Gotham Knight game kinda improve this by making the leader someone Bruce know (his uncle). For movies, I think it's better to save the Court of Owls for the 3rd or even 4th movie while slowly introduce their members throughout the series. Have Bruce Wayne getting to know more people in the Gotham Elites who claims to be helping Gotham. Drop some foreshadowing of them having bigger motvies. Then when the Court of Owls show up, they are established characters, we actually understand their motivations. Not to mention we can build a plot twist from the court of owls member revealing themselves. Plus, having the Court of Owls someone closed with Bruce Wayne make it more of an emotional impact for Bruce. Personally, I think Bella Real is the perfect character to be in the Court of Owl. This would explains why Riddler was trying to kill her in the first movie. My main problem with the first movie was that Bella Real wasn't corrupt so Riddler targeting her doesn't make any sense

Well. I see boba with that Star wars explanation of my concern. I appreciate the feedback. Now I can go into my wishes for the sequel. If we are going to change up the tone. I think the sequel could use more action. I loved the action in the first movie. I love it when action just isn't used for actions sake. But you keep saying boba that the tone would probably be shifted.from corruption to something else. Whatever that is it ends up more of an action heavy movie. And yes I still want a secondary rogues gallery member to be Mr Freeze. Imagine the movie posters. This one's theme is red, next one is Either a snowy looking or Blue. Or maybe both. Which is very likely. I just want a poster with Pattinson's bat symbol in ice. Batman and Robin's opening got me hooked to that but we need one with a serious tone. Bane being in the dark knight rises was a broken up cracked symbol and that went hard too.

This is my theory for the sequel. So hear me out… So I believe that after the flood that happened in the first film, crime, Lords, like the penguin will have risen up since his solo series, and will have a large amount of control over certain sections of the city. However, the only thing that stands in the way of him getting full control is of course, Batman. This is what leads to penguin hiring Bane as a mercenary to take care of Batman. I could totally see this happening and I know that Matt reeves has plans for bane . It would be a great way to follow up the penguin serious as well, and tied into the events of the first film.

The Bat Suit My Pitch would be.... Batman would discover Fox one night being attacked by a highly ranked assassin maybe a short Cameo of Deadshot, but keep that in mystery like the Joker Reveal in the end of the first movie. Just Hinting that this maybe Deadshot who has been hired to take out Fox.... Batman stops the initial attempt, Assassin uses a unusual Gadget Like a Poisoned dart Round. This incapacitates Batman just a few moments as we see Batman giving himself another shot of possibly Venom, to revive himself, whilst this happens Assassin Fires a 2nd Shot at Fox! into the chest Fox goes down and The assassin approaches to finish the Job and confirm the Kill, But Batman comes out of nowhere and fights with assassin, Assassin fires another shot and it goes through the Bat suit... Batman drops The Assassin escapes... Lucius Fox recovers and stands and reveals a protype Body Armour from assassination attempt but Batman is left wounded and in a critical state. Assassin Escapes due to his suits poor defensive capability's in dealing with these super High calibre Personalised Dimond tipped Rounds (Another Hint of the assassin identity) Batman gets Fox to call his own Doctor.... Doctor Thompkins... Together Dr Thompkins and Fox provide care for Batman whilst preserving his secret identity ... Fox doesn't want to know who Batman is... When Batman recovers he finds out what skills and talents fox has as an inventor. It's the reason he is a target for assentation. He explains that he made protypes of Upgraded Military Armour, he also gives Batman a few other tools and gadgets and tells Batman if there is any type of equipment he needs that given enough time he can create it. Now the interesting twist.... Batman has Lucius Fox apply for a Position in the Research and Development department of Wayne Enterprises under a secret Created false alias and tells Fox that he believes there maybe weapon development and Terrorist funding/aiding and would like fox to be his eyes on the inside... What was once initially a manipulation of Batman's to get Fox Placed in his R and D department, where he could preserve his identity and be funding Fox's projects for Batman. What was Batman's cover story turns out to be True..... All of this is happening in the background of the Movie as this film is set of featuring different Villains and centres on their stories. But by the End of the Movie, Batman finds out that it was one of the Wayne Enterprises board of directors that is connected to hiring Deadshot for Lucius Fox Assassination. That's where I think the Movie should End and we set up Deadshot as the Next Villain of the next Movie. We play with the twist that Lucius Fox is connected to assisting Batman, and is operating behind Bruce Wayne's back, or so he thinks. And uses Wayne Tech to create all of Batman's Gadgets

Movie 2 should definitely build Gotham; introduce more characters, Villains, etc. For movie 3, the Court Of Owls! Let's say The Waynes were members of the Court and they had them killed for going against them. Riddler, due to his conspiratorial natural, learns of the Court and tells Joker. Joker could deduct he can use Batman and the Court to destroy each other and the City will descend into chaos without the Owls controlling everything.

As Scott signed my books, I asked him how he felt about the Court of Owls being used in the Gotham Knights game. He was delighted! Stating he is very proud other story tellers want to pick up his creations and carry them forward in the Batman legacy. On the subject, Snyder shared that Matt Reeves paid him a courtesy phone call and asked if he could use the Court of Owls in the Batman film series. Snyder said absolutely, and joked as long as he got to cameo in their movie. Knowing this now, how do you think Gunn and Reeves will carve up the character gallery between the two film universes? Do you think Reeves will be granted more lower level (or lesser known to the wider public) Gotham based characters, such as Pyg, Zsasz and The Court? And Gunn, will use more of the characters that span multiple DC franchises, such as The League of Assassins, Deathstroke and hybrids, such as Man-bat, Killer Croc, Ocra etc? With potentially no flexibility for Reeves to include a Robin for a substantial amount of screen time. Also spoke with Glyn Dillion (creator of The Batman costume) at the same convention. At that time (November) Dillion claimed he had not been asked to come back/start working on Part II. Keep up the hard work, Boba, love the series.

I wish this would be a series and not a trilogy ,there’s so much to explorer and see the characters grow in this world reeves has created . maybe he’ll change his mind if the last two films are a success ?

Since Alfred, Gordon, and random young cop solve everything….why again is it hailed as seeing more of the detective Batman???

I couldn’t get through that Batman movie it definitely needs to be more like the source material like the comics or even the Arkham games

The Court of Owls would be anti-climatic after Batman and the RIddler in the first movie. We need something different. I know Mr. Freeze is too fantastical for Reeves. But I'd be all for it.

i think there should be a time skip between the first and second movie, considering that the first movie was filming in 2020 when Robert Patinson was 34. he is now 37. with the actors strike it could be years before the sequel starts filming. i would suggest a time skip of maybe five years at least. it wouldn't make sense to have a 40+ year old Robert Pattinson playing a batman who is only on his second year of crime fighting. or perhaps Matt Reeves would recast for a younger actor. i would like to know what you think about this.

I predict on no other basis than my own desire that the sequel is going to focus on the true duality of Bruce and Batman and that the villain would be Harvey/Two-Face. It feels like a very natural sequel to the themes of the first movie at least in my eye.

as the SAG strike goes on does anyone think Warner Brothers would release a DVD set with deleted scenes and bonus features?

I’m thinking this trilogy will serve as an origin to the status quo Batman we all know and love. It’ll be different from Nolan’s trilogy in the sense that it won’t have a tight, definitive end to Batman’s journey, but more of an “and the adventures continues…” kind of ending. The theme of political corruption and the birth of a more compassionate Batman was the story for Part I. I’d imagine Part II maybe focusing on corruption within Wayne Enterprises and the development of a more well-rounded Bruce Wayne persona. Part III could be a great Arkham breakout movie and address the corruption within the asylum as a “revolving door” for criminals. Have all the villains Batman has put behind bars throughout the years in the movies, shows and tie-in materials being released with Joker and Riddler as the master planners. It’d also be interesting to explore Martha Wayne, her mental health, the Arkham family, and how that history affects Bruce. I want to see a full transition of mob-led crime to these “freak” related crimes. Maybe in their “comeback” Riddler and Joker get more pizzazzy with their outfits (Edward definitely seems like the kind of incel who would wear a bowler hat and think it’s cool). I’d love to see a more emotionally-well Batman by the end of the trilogy, a similar suit, but with the torso and pants leaning more grey, and some yellow accents on the emblem. Gordon as commissioner, Dick as Robin, and maybe even Batgirl. Bat-signal shines in the sky, musical swells, fade to black. Might be too much to fit into 3 movies (maybe the shows would help set-up more of this stuff) but hey, I can dream. Think of a more “serious” version of the 66 show. I’d love to hear your thoughts on those ideas.

In my opinion, Matt Reeve's vision aside, it doesnt matter how much I like the Court of Owls, to me it needs to be built up since the beginning. Specially ir weve already gotten such a close look at the city's corruption. I find it very hard to believe that there wer no sings of the Court in the first movie and yet there is an even bigger conspiracy at play.
