THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Finally a video as to how to wind a bobbin that explains why one holds the thread taut and till when. And how to place the bobbin on the winder so that you will get a tight even winding.

Thank you for this most informative tutorial. I've been doing it all wrong. I know it doesn't include the S3, but I'm going to try this because I recognize the same bobbin winding set up on my machine.

I never knew about turning the bobbin till it clicks. I just tried it & it works great. I was always pulling the thread through the hole in the bobbin & sometimes struggled to get the thread wrapped correctly. Thank you.

Thank you, Amy, for this video! I just learned several things I didn't know, and I will definitely be following these steps on my next bobbin. I shared this link with the FB Janome 9400/9450 page since some have posted their troubles with bobbin winding.

Yes! Thanks. I've got to go check out my 12000 and 8900 to see if they have the click. Never noticed that and I've had problems with bobbin winding being a lottery. Just checked - and my 12000 doesn't have a place to click into nor does it have the little whirly gig thing underneath it. Sad face. My 8900 is at the shop at the moment but I'll look when I get it back.

I have always wondered why that little straight notch was on my bobbins. I am almost positive that my manual (mc 10k) didn't mention lining that up with the wire. I stumbled upon this video because I was having issues with my bobbins winding slightly unevenly and now I'm wondering if that was why. I was trying to adjust the bobbin winding thread tension screw to fix it. Thank you for that detailed explanation!

I always wondered what that thing with spiky bits was for under the bobbin. (8900) This works just great, Many thanks for showing us all this.

My 15000 always winds bobbins badly. It seems to bulge in the middle. Any ideas for that? Maybe following your instructions might solve. Thanks so much

Thanks for the video Amy. What is the heaviest thread that the 15000 can handle? I make bags and backpacks. I use heavy fabrics for those. So need advice on thread and needles for vinyl and canvas. Thanks again.

BonBon Monel I us Aurifil 28wt with no issues. But its cotton and really a polyester thread is best for bags.... I really need to get a few brands and weights to find the best one.

Stephannie Metz Thank you. I’ll have to keep experimenting to find the best thread and needle for the thickness.

28 wt is awesome, but I've used 12 weight sometimes...have to fiddle with the tension and choose the right needle, but it does ok.
