I had a total knee replacement July 2020. Then I had physical therapy for six months and did swimming. It finally feels like I can walk on it better than before surgery but it took an entire year. Not sure if I would do it again. It is difficult to recover from this type of surgery and not something to take lightly. I'm only 60 years old so it's not like I was too old to have the surgery.

@@glynnb6572 Mostly I had pain and stiffness after the surgery for many months. The pain was worse at night. It still hurts at times and I had to use a cane for stability. Now I'm not using a cane these past two months but I can only walk from my car to a store and then have to use a shopping cart. My knee makes a clicking sound quite a bit. They took x-rays and said everything looks good. The clicking is just the plastic part of the replacement rubbing on the metal I guess. I had the best surgeon in our area of Wisconsin. He was highly rated. But I wasn't able to have the robotic-assisted type of knee surgery because my Medicaid would not pay for that. Everyone is different as to what the results will be. I happen to have chronic arthritis which could have contributed to my long recovery.

I just found Bob and Brad- So happy I did! I have been battling left knee pain for about 2 years, but it recently has become more chronic and I find myself now using a cane, :( I'm able to walk but feel very weak in my leg so recently have started using a cane :( I feel extremely limited with walking in stores, leisure walks etc... I find this very frusting as It is now changing my busy lifestyle. I have had 2 injections and they help just a little bit. I had an MRI it is arthritis mostly all bone on bone. My surgeon is recommeding getting control of the knee pain with injections etc... and hopefully ward off any knee replacements until I'm much older (i'm 58) I refuse to using any pain meds. I'm mostly at this time interested in some simple exercises to help support strength and pain. Thank you Bob and Brad for the support and information provided on your site that I have recently viewed.

These guys are so awesome they have such a great vibe about them and they’re just such a nice guys and you can tell ….I wish them good health and please keep safe I have a meniscus tear in my knee and arthritis in my knee I’ve had it for many years I saw a orthopaedic surgeon saw a physical therapist had an MRI and x-ray and he said I have three options I can either have surgery….steroid injection loose is a little bit of weight and ice stThe Surgeon said if it really affects my so-called quality of life get an operation to this day I still can’t bend my knee it flares up some days are better than others I’m not sure what else to do I practice ballet so there are things I can’t do because of my knee ---- during this pandemic I don’t think it’s wise for me to have surgery unless something really happens something bad happens to my knee like I practice yoga and I walk and I have lost a little bit a ways is trying to take care of myself right now take care everyone bless 🙏🏻✨💕

I’m having a TKR next month at 54. Had torn meniscus, tried PT, steroid injections, gel injections, had arthroscopic surgery 5 years ago and the surgeon mentioned it could accelerate the arthritis in my knee. He was right. My pain is debilitating and has affected my quality of life. I can’t walk through a grocery store without my knee being stiff, painful and swollen with leaning on the cart the whole time. Can’t take my dog for a nice walk. It’s time for my TKR. I’m ready to get my life back!

I totally agree, there are times when replacement is the best option. But we see amazing benefits with 1. strengthening the quads 2. re-conditioning the nerves and 3. stimulating the release of skeletal stem cells from the periosteum. I watch clients go from not able to walk the block to walking a 5K in a month. :)

You must have my doctor. I also had surgery for a meniscus tear and told I have bone on bone arthritis. He also indicated that I will definitely need a knee replacement in the future. And my other knee is acting up. I really don’t want to do this. I’m sixty-six and overweight. I don’t think I’ll even consider a knee replacement until I can’t walk anymore, which won’t be long now.

Help. Aged 74. I have a knee pain for he last 5 years. I only have the pain on impact, is, walking, stairs and hills more painful. The pain is only on one point at the inner side of knee. Been to specialists who say I do not have advanced arthritis. One 'expert' said that in his opinion looking at MRI and x-rays , in his object opinion I do not have arthritis. I answered that in my subjective opinion I had something wrong with knee. I do not take meds as I found I only had pain on walking. I have Had multiple steroid injections. I fell in April and fractured my hip, on the bad knee side. Since no longer kneeding crutches, the knee pain has now returned WORSE than ever. Grateful for any advice.

Please help,, I need advice! About 5 years ago I had orthopedic Dr recommend TKR after doing a scope and finding bone on bone . I am 57 years old and run/walk 5-6 times a week. As I speak , I just ran 3 mile ( very slow these days) and walked another 1.5. Both my knees have some pain but I can honestly say they feel better because I exercise. However ,, when I begin to work around the house , stoping and turning or climbing ladders or walking on uneven surfaces, I hurt bad! Dull achy pain in Hips, knees, back become unbearable! I have to just stop. I often say , i can work for a short time or exercise, but I can’t do both! I certainly would like to put off any surgery as long as possible ,,, but don’t want to wait too long! Any advise would be appreciated!!

35 and need TKR in both knees due to maltracking kneecap that has worn away cartilage and left me bone on bone, I've had 4 operations (2 each knee) to sort out the tracking, none of them worked, even had microfractures done to try to promote regrowth, didn't work and left a weakness in both knees, but no surgeon will touch them til I'm over 40 due to the life of the joints, it's soul destroying.

I had my R knee replaced 6 years ago. My L knee is bone on bone & meets every criteria you mentioned plus more. The surgeons agree it needs replaced but want me to lose weight. I can only diet so much & exercise is off the table with my accompanied back issues(stenosis, herniated discs, sciatica, muscle spasms & arthritis). I was overweight when they did my other knee but that dr retired. So I'm screwed for now. 😩
