My Dad suffered his second massive stroke October 7th 2020 just after 5 year's from his first massive stroke. I wish I had a happy ending but sadly at a young 61 and beating diabetes type2 being on insulin and beating it so much he did need insulin anymore. He was good with diet and exercised his whole life. My Dad was life superman in the flesh. After his first stroke he lost all his weight and he was solid muscle. He was still solid muscle but not a bit of fat on him. Sadly I lost my precious Daddy 21 days after his stroke because he couldn't breathe. My Dad will forever be my best friend I miss him every second of everyday. It kills me the longer we are apart. Love you Dad Always and Forever xoxo

My sister had what we thought was a tia. She lost the ability to speak and was numb on one side. It happened a couple of times but then would go away within minutes. She was checked out for tia but was diagnosed with an Aura Migrane. Kudos to my sister that she gave up coffee (I was horrified), anything with caffeine, chocolate and no longer eats red meat. She never smoked, never overweight. I know how scary it is when a loved one is sick. My sister is 15 years older than me and to my twin sister and I, our five older siblings are our life. I remember just crying when told my big sister had gone to the hospital. So, for anyone going through serious health issues I empathize.

In 2015 my hubby got up in middle of night to use rr. Upon laying back down he was hit with classic "thunderclap" headache. This was also 6 days after orthopedic surgery. I work in the medical field (OT..ironically often with stroke survivors) I pretty much knew he'd "thrown a clot" having a stroke. Called 911, got him to ER fast. Only to have ER Dr insist it was an atypical migraine. Nothing I said made a difference..nothing. 30 hours too late for tPA we were told, "Your husband has had a stroke". I still can't discuss it without getting upset. Sadly one can do everything right, yet still not get care that is oh so necessary.

@@MR..181 I'm so sorry you had a stroke too. tPA stands for tissue plasminogen activator. Which shows why it's called tPA for short..lol. Or even a person can say "that drug that busts up clots". It can't be used if the stroke is hemorrhagic (not a clot, but a bleed) as it would cause the bleeding to be worse. Maybe the medical people you asked about it weren't sure what type you had?.. I hope you're doing as well as you can be.

I had all kinds of symptoms including hallucinations. I went to the hospital twice, and the walk in clinic once. They all called me crazy and sent me home. Then one morning it happened while I was at my daughters. I was paralyzed and ended up peeing on her floor, because I couldn't walk to the bathroom. My daughter accused my of being mentally ill and ruining her life and told me to get out. My own doctor acted like I was bothering her because I was slurring my words. Thankfully my legs came back and I made a full recovery, but I lost a lot of familly and friends, because my daughter had convinced them all that I was mentally ill and always after sympathy and attention and ruining her life. I was shunned by everyone. It was so bad that I even attempteed suicide. My daughter told me that nobody cares if I kill myself and that she cares less and less everyday. It's really hard when reaching out for help just makes things a million times worse. Those people aren't in my life anymore and I have a new doctor now, so I hope things keep getting better.

@Jen I'm glad you survived your stroke. It sounds like you had a massive stroke. Mine was just a mini stroke, and it was confirmed by a brain MRI. It was brought on by a shingles outbreak on my face and directly on my eye, covering my pupil. I fell asleep on my daughter's couch, and I woke up freezing cold. It was a cold that I had never felt before. I was shivering so violently that I looked like I was having a seizure. I felt like I had to go to the bathroom, but when I stood up to go, my legs became paralyzed and I couldn't leave the position I was standing in. I stood there for one to two minutes and then ended up peeing on the floor. After I peed, I regained feeling in my legs. It didn't last long, but it was very real. My symptoms were: unconciousness, hallucinations, paralysis, speech problems, loss of bladder control, feeling ice cold and a headache from hell! You may not recognize these as symptoms of a stroke, but they most certainly are. Again, I'm glad you survived. I hope you have had a lot of support.

I got a TIA due to a low carb high fat & meat diet which gave me heart arrythmia and damaged arteries. The TIA destroyed my balance system, it was terrible. When I strongly reduced all animal products and increased all types of veggies and fruits and nuts etc, I lost weight, got normal cholesterol again and my heart arrythmia dissapeared and my dizziness is almost gone - but the whole healing journey took more than 2 years. You dont only loose weight at the table, you will also determine your health with your food choices.

That's interesting. I've been looking at the KETO diet, which seems to be what you are describing. I'm not particularly overweight but have some digestion issues and raised cholesterol and wondered if this might help. I was feeling a bit nervous about increasing fat intake to the levels recommended and your post has increased my suspicions that this might not be a great idea. Think I'll follow your example and go down the veggie road, probably with less carbs. Hope you continue to recover.

SIGNS OF STROKE::: left side neck arm pain, slurry speech, can't smile, face dropping to 1 side, difficult swallowing. REASONS FOR STROKE::: worrying too much, high blood pressure, high diebetes/ sugar levels. CURE/ PREVENTION- diet, exercise. Eat fruits to LOWER blood pressure. For inflammation eat raw root turmeric haldi. Tea bags r giving headaches so can't be trusted. And eating too much sugar and sweetners give dark circles , loss of hair, memory loss. herpes can be caught smoking the hookah pipe. Hepatitis can be cured by coconut water. Lipoma LUMPS gone by fasting, eating omega 3, raw turmeric, drinking more water, exercising, massaging body BEFORE breakfast dinner . Plz AVOID cakes , muffins, doughnuts, fizzy drinks fried foods, soy sauce as they cause LUMPS. GET MOVING- you will notice that tingling sensation on LUMPS after drinking fizzy/ exercising- proof. LACK OF WATER , CIRCULATION also cause of LUMPS in body. I spent over £1,000 on homeopathic tablets but to be honest he put turmeric in those tablets. Surgery never the cure my aunt knew girl living near her n she got so many operations. Never the cure. To prevent strokes eat Apple banana n pears. To lower blood pressure immediately plz eat banana. Fruits can LOWER blood pressure and by drinking more water throughout the day. - plz avoid drinking n eating while standing n walking it's bad for the heart. Fibroids can be prevented by Avoiding chicken liver, tomato seeds, white flour so doughnuts cakes white sugars. Creams.

Docs...I'm 57. I stopped smoking when I was 27. Smoked for 14 years. Aside from that, in 2019 I started feeling numbness in my upper lip & various small spots on my limbs & back. Never suspected stroke. However, I finally complained about brain issues (confusion, anxiety, brain fog & balance) enough for my dr to send me to the neuro, who ordered an MRI, nerve tests & eeg. 6 Weeks after those tests my gp's secretary called me to say everything was normal. More than a year later (3/2021) things did not feel normal (in fact they had gotten progressively worse) so I called the neuro & she looked at the tests (from 1/2020) & said I had had a small stroke...but no one told her - or ME! Now I've been experiencing tremors & spasms & did a 2nd MRI which shows more damage since the first but the neuro says nothing to worry about...what?!!!😡

The book works! I stopped smoking after 17yrs using Allan Carrs audio book. The best thing about is you still smoke while listening to or reading the book as Allan breaks down the conditioning surrounding the addiction to smoking. When I did stop, it was no where near as bad as other methods I had tried and failed with. The first week was the hardest (still easy in comparison to previous attempts), but I would just jump up and down a few times when ever I got a craving. After that I got cravings once or twice a day. You need to hit the 28day no smoking mark to truly break the habit. If you smoke you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying this method. Give it a shot!

I couldn't agree more! Those are the symptoms, and they are scary! About the causes - there is not always clear bodily signs that you have a risk for high blood pressure. In my case the doctors at the hospital came to the conclusion that it was due to bad luck, as all my family tended to have it high blood pressure. I feel sure that perceived stress was a huge factor for me. "If you feel stressed, then you ARE stressed." It is not about what some other person thinks is stressful, it is about YOU. Take care of your blood pressure though you are almost vegan, though you are not obese at all, though you enjoy to be active, and though you look healthy! If you are sensitive you need to listen to your heart, soul, and body, in a way sturdy robust people won't have to. Don't follow the lead of people who can shrug off other people's sorrows and needs. Be careful, mindful, but not overwhelmed! You matter, too!

I mistook TIA’s for an allergic reaction. Went full blown ischemic attack. Fast forward from hospital to rehab center. Many stroker survivors mistake early stroke signs for flu symptoms and sadly think laying down helps. Causing many to miss the three hour window. Mine was a cervical dissection from holistic service. Instead use physical therapist & massage for muscle ailments.

Just some info. Not all strokes happen in the brain. I had a stroke in 2014 at the C5 level. Leaving me a quadriplegic on both side. So the symptoms arent always one sided numbness and tingling.

Creams.

My personal advice to anyone that thinks they've had a TIA, have an ultrasound done on your carotid arteries checking for blockages. It has been shown that 1 in 3 strokes are caused from this. A simple surgery can remove the blockage. Ask me how I know.

I am a stroke survivor. I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke at 36 years old in 2016. It has completely ruined my life with brain fatigue, headaches/migraines, nausea, dizziness, light/sound/motion sensitivities. Discussions like who has a more debilitating event happening to them can cause more harm than good. One person can deal with and feel fairly okay despite not being able to walk or use a hand properly. Another used to be an avid runner and falls into depression and struggle to find the will to live. Some people can deal with chronic headaches. Others fall into despair over it. You cannot say by a symptom or an illness how delibitating something is. It is not a contest. It causes survivors to feel like their problems don't matter. It can cause the health care system to give better care to certain people while others struggle to find help. A stroke is horrible. To anyone. No matter what type or how it affected them in the long run.

i am not sure, but I wonder if anxiety about things is causing stuff that makes me look at videos like this. it kind of started 2 weeks ago when a family member was stressing me out over getting this one thing done and constantly calling, then the next day i was trying to get some volet bowl cleaner in my toilet and the cap was off, but I am pretty sure I didn't get anything in my eye. but just in case i washed my hand off,and it didn't really seem like I got anything on my hand, but washed with soap and water. then spashed my eye ot with tap water a bit. than i smelled a slight oder of teh cleaner on my hand, then discoved there is hydocholiric acit within the cleaner. i never knew that. my vision was grat, the ver next day everything , mostly in the distnace seemed kind of dullish, no grey spots in eyes, just regular floaters. that gave me more anxiety. and 2 days later I went to th edoctor office , not the opthimilogist, just my regular doctor. he looked very close he didn't see anything on my eye that he thought would indicate anything in there. my vision seems to have gotten bettery since than slowly. again nothing bad. however, when I was there my blood pressure was 144-88 and in the past few times it was slihgtly higher but he was only on the verge of thinking about the smallest amt of blood prssure medications posibly but iwas 158-94 that time and the time before it was 160-94. but I had a full stress test last august and EKG both came back with flying colors. my cholestoral and triglercidyes were all good too . i don't think those numbrs would have changed too too much as my diet and excercise has mainly been fairly good the past 8 months mostly. altpougth i also have ran lots and lots. but last week with cold weathe i basically almost didn't run for ahole 10 days, except sunday, then again yesterday for 5 miles. sunday, when my cleaning lady was over. when i sat on the bed for a few mintues (edge of bed) for some reason I felt like well both my legs at the bottom felt a little bit wierd. bu after a littlw while they were fine. i could waskl toally fine, balance fine everythin. but yesterday at one point, after my very long run, an hour later albiet i was sitting on the couch for 20 minutes, maybe i just sat funny. but my left arm felt a little wierd , mainly just below the elbow, maybe it was the muscle. now I was eastily able to lift my arm over my head. i also just spoke to myself and just said words but they didn't sound slurred or out of the originary or anything. i looked at the mirror as well but saw no drooping. and well something I have had since i was quite young, the left side of my mouth i think the upper lip seems to be weaker maybe as in my smiles, and looking back evenwhen I was in high school the lip comes down and i never have a fullly perfect smile unless I really stress on it. lol. but that was the same too. but again, even last week my blood pressure was fine. i am probbaly just worring too much. oh also recently both my legs felt slightly numbish. not realy bad, buthey are fine now. however, i was eastily able to walk and run, and even blance on each of my feet for well over a minute. does anyone think i should get checked for this TIA thing, or am i likely fine and just wait til i schedule my yearly exam. last year i did it in august but I could do it earlier.

I am disabled and confined to a wheelchair, I am very slim cannot eat very well due to an overactive ileostomy. But I have been getting episodes of loss of consciousness whilst sitting in my wheelchair, I come to and don’t know where I am sometimes . I have high cholesterol but have not had a blood test for several years now. Today I had a cataract check up they found a blood clot behind my left eye. Funnily enough I have blurred vision in that eye and the shape of that eye differs to my right eye. I also experience pressure on that side of my head. My blood pressure is on the low side so that cannot be the reason for a TIA. I get loss of sensation and tingling in my fingers but in both hands?? I have an AP shunt in -situ draining a thoracic syrinx. Could this be blocked and attributing to the momentary blackouts?? I do not take any medication such as anti coagulants, should I start to take aspirin daily?? I am female aged 65 years old, any advice would be gratefully received. I am also greatly fatigued and can spend most of my day asleep, and still not feel refreshed afterwards. I have never smoked and I don’t drink alcohol at all.

about 10 yrs ago I started having vision problems. I lost my peripheral vision for about 5-10 minutes every other month for about 6 months. No pain, no numbness in any body part. It was quite scary. Dr said it was an ocular migraine. But these issues went away which is weird. They just stopped. Does anyone know if the diagnosis of ocular migraines is accurate and has anyone experienced this? I was wondering if it was a TIA.
@suelistens3392

There is such a thing as an ocular migraine, which I experience once or twice per year. It distorts your vision (one way or another) usually in one eye only, unpredictably comes on in seconds, and in my case lasts perhaps 15 min. And then it disappears in seconds as if someone had flipped off a switch. No pain, no headache, no dizziness or any other symptom, and no warning sign(s) that it's about to happen. My expert retina doctor (I have previously had detached retinas which thankfully he repaired) was/is not alarmed providing that it doesn't happen frequently and leaves in less than 30 minutes. It's scary as hell, though! I would highly recommend that anyone with these weird and brief visual "migraines" quickly see their doctor to rule out any other possible cause(s).

I'm 57 and have been in healthcare for the last 27 years. I am a fitness fanatic, never overweight, don't drink, never smoked, fasting blood sugars around 80, A1c at 4.6-4.8, CRP at 0.5, sedimentation rate at 3 which most people my age are closer to 20. Homocysteine was 6, total cholesterol at 169, HDL at 52, triglycerides at 59. My blood pressure in the mornings will average 100/60 and in the evenings average 109/69. NO underlying medical issues and I don't take ANY medications except for one which I will disclose here in the next paragraph. Strokes don't run in my family and guess what? I HAD A STROKE in April 2022. Stood up from my desk and BAM! Entire right side went nearly dead and lost control and coordination. Long story short, I was somewhat walking within 3 days and driving after a week. Here we are nearly 4 months later and I've got 95% of my coordination and balance back and by looking at me you would never know I had a stroke. Numerous CT and MRI scans revealed I had an infarction in the left internal capsule. All scans also revealed NO small blood vessel disease, NO large blood vessel disease, AND ZERO % plaque in every major blood vessel including small blood vessels! So, what caused the stroke? I was taking a medication called Tadalafil, I was taking 5mg of this medication daily and come to find out it caused LOW BLOOD FLOW in the internal capsule due to vasodilation. The med basically overrode the natural vasodilation/vasoconstriction system of the body and when I stood up, all the blood was pooled in my legs and the body was unable to constrict blood vessels in order to maintain adequate blood flow to the internal capsule which is a very sensitive part of the brain when it comes to blood flow. So, the take away here is, just because you are super healthy with NO underlying medical issues, BEWARE, because medications can throw everything out of whack and cause problems like in my case. I should have never been on the medication from the start since there is a warning on the label to not take if you have low blood pressure. Well, mine is below average, BUT not considered by the medical community as low. Needless to say, if you are a male taking Tadalafil/Cialis/Viagra, never ever ever take the medication IF your blood pressure is below 120. If you do then you are taking a huge risk of having a stroke like I did.

What do you call way off the charts blood pressure and cholesterol? PS I gave up smoking successfully reading Allen Carrs book. I loaned my copy of the book to my friend but unfortunately he didn't read it or stop smoking and died this year from lung cancer.

This happened to me in new zealand and I went to the hospital and they just ignored me! I can't get an MRI unless a doctor refers me to a specialist who believes that I need one and the wait is months after that! We are 3rd world here! I have a whole new language as I don't talk properly or spell anymore after telling the doctor I was top of the class with spelling it didn't even register!
