This tutorial is absolutely amazing. The ONLY thing I would suggest is not destroying your DTD. The method I learned was to wrap the DTD in plastic wrap, add another layer of tape on top of it (usually masking tape), and then use the masking tape layer as your patterning layer. The cling wrap makes it easy to remove. The reason to do this extra pattern layer is because it's SUPER useful to put your suit on the dummy and really look at how it's measuring out without having to wear it yourself.

You should add a seam allowance to your fabric pieces. Each time you sew a line 1/4 of an inch from the edge, you lose a 1/2 inch overall. I would also recommend making a test suit from something like muslin first. You'll be able to test the fit and make adjustments with less expensive materials before cutting into your fur.

The suit looks AMAZING, i think the only thing to note for in the future (if you do decide to make another body suit) would be to add seams between where the femur meets with the pelvis, that should give it a lot more motion. Also, i think you could have added a bigger seam allowance to make it more spacious (id say about an inch), and a final tip would be to mark where the actual pattern piece is and mark the seam allowance around it, this makes it so you dont forget where your seam should be and makes it flow with the body a lot better! Everything still looks amazing and im going to be using your protogen head tutorial to make a protosuit of my own!

By far I believe you should make the thigh armor next as it would make a good balance between technology based content, and making the rest of the suit in general content. That and the shape of those pieces will greatly affect how easy it is to move around so it’d probably be best to do those first.

I'm setting off making my own suit for the first time partly inspired by your last fursuit from scratch series. They're really well presented and offer a great insight into the less talked about steps of the process. How much fur did you end up using for this project? I get wildly different answers whenever I ask but I feel a lot of them are overkill. I've been recommended 12 yards of fur overall for a full suit, but what do you think?

Some process changes I'd personally suggest: 1. Don't cut apart your DTD directly. Instead, cover it with plastic wrap and make a second DTD over it. If you plan to add digi padding for other suits this is already a must anyway, but even a non digi suit still greatly benefits from test fitting on your DTD. Also, this gives you an extra bit of fabric to work with anyway to make it a little looser fit. 2: Get a sharpie and draw your markings on the DTD!!! This makes adding them in THOUSANDS of times easier, in addition to not wasting large chunks of fabric for things like colored bellies. 3: For the final seam, instead of sewing back half to front half, sew left half to right half. One of the halves gets turned and placed inside the other (right sides together). This creates a single, long, mostly straight seam to sew together, rather than fiddly stops and starts to skip arm and leg holes. This is how pants are sewn together normally as well- this also allows you to stitch a second seam in the crotch area for reinforcement.

So I've noticed that you cut very closely to the edge. And in a different comment you said you do add seam allowance. I guess what I'm asking is what kind of stitch do you use (for the head in the previous video), and how closely do you sew to the edge? I'm working on my own head right now, and I don't want to have bulk on the inside, but I don't want it to be too small.
