This odd, yet historic, exercise tool has quite a few names from all over the world. I call them leverage clubs, others call the modern version clubbells. But to celebrate my new instructional series on my website, collected from many years of filming and 20 years of experience using them, here's a quick tutorial on how to make one, and the best places to buy a heavier one.

Just a tip, the routines with club bell that go through music etc. Have an advantage that most don't understand. When you put the movements to music it adds an element of tuning to the movements which develops agility alongside more controlled strength that isn't developed without putting it to music and the need to control and accelerate the movements to the timing of the music . It may seem hoky to those who don't understand the purpose but it is actually very beneficial to getting more out of your club training.

Thanks a lot. I started with a baseball bat which improved my shoulder and upper spine mobility tremendously. But it's too light and didn't provide enough inertia to get the movements right. Tried to continue with a 4 kg sledge hammer (roughly 9 lbs). Doesn't sound much but due to the weight distribution and the lever it's not forgiving at all. Put my club together with 1" x 400 (roughly 15 1/2") mm && 2" x 400 mm according to what you suggested. One of the best pieces of advice I found about diy clubs. Mine is V4A - so it won't rust too much. GOOD to start with. Enough space to fill the whole thing with - heavy - pieces later on. I think I'll take old screws and stuff and buffer it with some foam-pads so it won't rattle. I'll definitely check out your other content. Subscribed !

I find it’s really simple. To wield a heavy club for an hour you need to be a real beast. So learning how to do it will turn you into a beast. Plus they’re a lot more fun than free weights, machines or KBs.

So my pipe work arrived today. I went for two 2” tubes - with 1.5” inners - and a choice of 1 and 3 foot handles so I have either a club and a mace or two clubs or two maces. They swing beautifully - the extra length for both club and mace makes them more wieldy than my 9T9 8kg club or my usual maces. Need to add more weight for a mace but the pipes clank a bit so will have to add some rags to pad them out. Neat bit of handicraft though 😎😉👍

Behold! The ancient Indian warrior is training! Nailed the word "patina" (aesthetic rust/weathering). And yeah! Many expensive ($100+) items sold online are EASILY built in a hardware store for like under $20, if you just know how! Now I do. Thanks! Perhaps I already have these parts... or something close. Ever made one with Schedule 40 PVC (glued together) filled with sand? Not sure if it'd work. _Wanders off into the garage muttering._
@Bodytribechip
@Bodytribechip 3 жыл бұрын
PVC would indeed work, and I've had a couple of those. I'm just a sucker for the steel.
@bo_392

@@Bodytribechip Yeah, I just put one together (empty) - my reaction: "hey this totally works, but I'd prefer steel since I'll have this for a long time." Also, I showed my mom your stretches (we did them together), and she loved it. You MIGHT have a new member soon. I'm slowly realizing the TRIBE part of "Bodytribe" is just as important as the BODY. Skill-building with friends is gold!

any advice when you have asymmetric strength doing one handed club drills and dont have lighter clubs... should you choke up? for some of the more difficult leverage drills I have lousy eccentric control on my weaker side.
