I really enjoyed this video, I'm a student pilot in Cape Town. And this is the dream right here.

Left side of the plane on a northbound departure off RWY 01 on a clear day is one of the best views in the world.

I had a bit of anxiety watching this but man it's beautiful. Also the amount of communication and checks are pretty interesting. Merci pour le video!

From a very old retired pilot, nice to see you hand fly for so long. The requirement for the Captain to keep his hand on the throttles while the FO was taking off came into use in the US in the '80's. It didn't say the FO had to remove his so I told them to keep their hands on top and I held them from behind. I understand the reason behind the senior pilot having that control but I never agreed with them having sole control. Years before as a FO on a DC-9-31 I initiated a low energy abort when the captain had pulled onto a runway without clearing the approach path and a light aircraft complained to the tower that he was going around as an airliner ( us ) was on the runway. The Captain said "Go-Go" but I closed the throttles at about 70 kts. There was also a light aircraft doing touch and goes on a runway that intersected ours at the far end. He had been instructed to do a full stop but he didn't. Both aircraft would have been a threat to us in the air. This Captain was a supervisor and incompetent and the tower was in error also. I made the decision in an instant and it completely diffused the whole incident. It's always better to be down here wishing you were up there then up there wishing you were down here.
