The "runaway" seat doesnt explain the sudden drop in altitude especially knowing that the seat moves very slowly (electronically)..

If I am not mistaken, news have surfaced that the pilot of the incident aircraft walked to the cabin afterwards and mentioned to the passengers that his instruments went blank for few moments during the dive. How is this related to the inadvertent movement of the pilot's seat via the rocker switch on its back?

I pray for the Speedy Recovery & well-being of that seriously injured passenger. 🙏 It is fortunate the plane didn't vanish !

Does this include official Boeing sticky tape to apply to the cover of switch to keep from accessing the device? Better use tape instead 4 bolts.

I have been a qualified glider pilot for 23 yrs and every now and then our instructor would say let's go for a fly in the dual seater being called a Banick (all aluminum glider) we got off the aerotow at 2000 Ft then struck good lift we which took us up to 8000ft. weather conditions were 34c hot day with mild cumulus cloud, as we were flying towards another cloud. on a straight direct flight suddenly, we lost all instrument reedings the vireo went directly to negative to lift and the sound of wind immediately stopped. the aircraft went from 8000 feet to 6500 ft in seconds, I had No control over the aircraft and then Instructor in the back seat went to take over when the glider hit air. when the glider hit air there was just an almighty sudden stop or thud to the aircraft, the instructor said that was an air pocket. and he had only been though an air pocket ounce when he was in the Australian Airforce flying the caribous. we completed a normal landing immediately to ensure safety to ourselves but to also check the aircraft aluminum frame for damage. I stand to be corrected but I strongly feel that this is what happened the Latam 787 Plunge as all the indications of the comments that the pilot stated points to an air pocket and correct me if. I am wrong but I believe the avionics (Radar) of airliners of today cannot detect air pockets and when you do some research into this phenomime they are not really classed as air pockets but more like wind shear and thermal shearing forces. Let’s see what comes out from the investigation, in the meantime I think it make sense to remind airlines to check this switch

Initially I thought that they are lying again but now I think the passenger just interpreted what the meaning of “my instruments, I just lost them” meant and added his own interpretation on top of it. Just another demonstration of how flawed the eye witness testimony is.

In other news, the Boeing employee who issued the advisory was found in his car with self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head.

I think the systems in the plane actually rebooted, and due to this the pilot and the flight attendant were startled, causing the switch to be pressed.

If the stewardess, giving the captain liquid refreshments, touches that switch thus pulling it back, and any passenger flushes the rear most toilet commode within 90 - 120 seconds, and the factory assemblers at Spirit Aviation forget to install any of the four wing nuts, then the wings will be blown off, though but only if the aircraft is flying at over 25,000 feet. The oxygen masks will not deploy and the rear most exit door will get locked out of service. Passengers are advised to reference the bible, koran, or buddhist sutras provided in the front seat pocket in front of them for further instructions. Good luck! I like Boeing aircraft's especially 747, 787 and 777. They are the best and most comfortable. Human errors and airline maintenance are important for travellers so stop pointing fingers to Boeing for every instance.

Freaky things goes on between the flight crew. Those switches. Are just not in the open. Airline is covering up some misbehaving flight crew.
