For all those wondering why this wasn't in the film, the theatrical release was edited down but they DID in fact film the entire re-enactment of the entire Live Aid gig. It's on the extra features of the Blu Ray. When I watch the movie at home, at the end of the rehearsal scene when Freddie tells the band he has AIDS, I switch over to the special features and run the complete Live Aid gig, then when it's done, switch back to the end of the released film. If you know what you're doing on your bluray player it's actually pretty seamless.

I loved the way Lucy, Jim and David are looking at him. They are totally mesmerised and amazed. Especially Lucy with those eyes which are screaming "I'm proud of you Freddie." And those tears 😍

All the actors - Rami Malek, Gwilym Lee, Joe Mazzello and Ben Hardy - immersed themselves fully into playing Queen and they really seemed to enjoy it.

Can we just appreciate that all of the actors did amazingly? Not just the actor for Freddie or Brian? They all knew how to play their instruments and all knew how to act just like their person. Shy deaky sitting in the back trying not to be noticed but enjoying the show, Brian staring at his guitar the whole time

Can't stop seeing the real footage and comparing it to this. They did an amazing job!! While Rami Malek is a smaller guy than Freedy you forget all differences once you see him performing just like the man. This scene had great attention to little details, fans will see it once and again.

Freddie really was only truly alive playing live. The world was literally his stage and no statement rang truer than on the 13th of July 1985 when Freddie and Queen became like a Phoenix and was rejuvenated and reborn is spectacular fashion.

The songs in the movie are performed by Freddie, Rami and a Freddie sound-alike named Marc Martel. "Rami sings a little bit in the film, there's a lot of Freddie Mercury obviously, and a lot of Marc Martel. He sent a video to Brian May and Roger Taylor and he sounds exactly like Freddie Mercury. We knew that we had someone we could use for parts that maybe Rami couldn't do and obviously Freddie didn't do. So we were in Abbey Road recording studio for maybe two and a half months with Marc and with Rami, recording bits and pieces that we knew we needed. It's hard to find someone who can sing like Freddie Mercury and I'm not sure the movie would have happened if we didn't have Marc." - Producer, Graham King of G.K. The black Telecaster "played" by Gwylim Lee as Brian May in the solo part is THE EXACT same guitar Brian May played in the real LiveAid show. Brian brought it out of storage and made it available for the filming of the movie. No one knows what happened to the white Tele played by Freddie.
