I started with three pieces in December 2018...now by May 2019 all solidly rooted and I moved it up higher into more light. I noticed ,they really accumulate detritus. That's why they say to put them practically facing the pumps return. So I have about done that...nice to see those fronds wave. What the plant is all about. No Co2.

Third update is..new Bolbitis with stem bought in January 2020...took until late July to get enough of a root system to finally grow new fronds that were not very small. Now in mid September its looking good. It will at this rate take about 4 or 5 years- if ever, to get rhizomes and leaves as huge as Corvis was. His was Amano Lisbon tank gigantic!

Close Captioning called it "Bull Bite us who de Lodi"..that was a great CCR song also. I finally got some of that very hard to find plant almost 2 months ago. Its doing well for me..new fronds. I had a problem with Mystery snails eating roots...so sold the 23 Mystery snails in the 240 gallon. Bolbitis heudelotii likes a good current, lots of fish in the tank that don't nibble as I see it enjoys its nutrition. It perked up even more on LED lights added alongside to the fluorescents. I think it lives up to the hype and no wonder it's so hard to get. That clump you gave away is about $300 worth of the stuff I would conservatively guess. I see small pieces- IF YOU CAN GET THEM..for $25. Add shipping and all...

Closed captioning is awesome! I know that it has been difficult to find for purchase. There really are no farms even getting any grown for some reason that is unknown to me. Have you considered that your tank is too small and you need a bigger one? ( extra of course) Love these plant topics, learning a lot about them and see plants in reel life ,I mean in your hands and not in some perfect picture all photoshopped and stuf . They look great btw, your doing very well in taking care off the plants.Great way to put your " back up" plants in the sump, that's a good reason to consider a sump myself, or an extra tank. Thank you

@@CorvusOscen Still, you see 500 gallon tanks on ebay and the rest for like $800. Fish stores sometimes move and just sell their old big tanks since they want perfect new ones. I still kick that I didn't buy a 500g for 500$. It would have left a hamster trail room in front and one side in the only extra room I have for that-lol.

My up,up,up,update is...I learned that when brown or black algae covers leaves? Erythromycin will kill that and the rest in the aquarium. Boom! water quality goes way up and its like you fertilized the tank. Bolbitis then grows bright green new leaves. If you are anti anti biotics then try Ultralife bluegreen alga killer. Its made of bacteria that target BGA. Or ADA makes a powder also not an antibiotic that is made of plant extract that it too will kill off BGA..they say. Never tried the last two.

I have spoken on the subject a few times. It is something that I could do in the right geographical location. Most of the businesses operating have an advantage over me. That being, one or more of the resources being utilized for them, is free. I live in one of the most expensive places in the US (Washington State) and here, labor, water, electricity and not to mention LAND are really expensive. So, I would have to compete with folks that are getting at least one of those things for free. If we were to take into consideration some of the farms in Florida, well they get water and light for free. (Agriculture in most counties in Florida get water for free) and the sun is shining regularly. SO, due to these kinda of issues I have to go do electrical installations and plumbing to afford to continue this project of educating for the hobby. Someday, I hope that we can build the production to a higher level, it's just going to take time! 😀

Hi , I am really new to keeping Shrimps. I bought 10 cherry shrimps one month ago. It's a 10 gallon tank. I have added a Indian Almond leaf and some coconut shells which I attached some moss. I keep 50 - 100 baby danios in the that tank inside a big plastic bottle which I drilled for just to move water .So they have access to large volume of water and they can't eat the shrimp let.I change 50% water change every week. I feed my shrimps Hikari Shrimp Cuisine,Hikari First Bitesand Vibra Bite. I have add a crushed egg shells to the tanks as a calcium source for the Shrimps two weeks ago. Recently I noticed 2 of my cherry Shrimps are having white ring of death. Most of shrimps have grown 2-4 mm since I bought them. They were like 1.5 cm at time I purchase them. Now most of the have grown to up 2cm.Is it because me doing too much water changes or the Hikari Vibra bite or First bites make them grow quickly. I don't have any thing to measure ph,GH or Kh.Please help. Show less
