Great to see you in Chambersburg, my father’s hometown. Scrapple is best topped with syrup. Habberstadt or Dietz and Watson make some of the best. I could eat a small piece of scrapple every morning. My grandfather made our own scrapple. It’s actually delicious and I know what’s in it. Mostly though it is pork scraps. I grew up on it. Good video. Thanks.

Hey Guys, Jeff here. Bonanza was our go to family restaurant on Sundays back in the 70's. Great tasting steaks and only $3.99 back then. I love any restaurant that has the words, "All You Can Eat" or "Buffet" in the name. What I remember most was how happy all the customers and families were while dining there. Wife and I will definitely stop into this one when heading up Hwy 81.

Thanks John and Bobbie for another buffet video which is one of my favourite type of video you guys make. That price to eat there with the free drinks is amazing and shocking to me. The food looks delicious too and I wish we had Bonanza or Ponderosa restaurants here too. Back in the 80’s I remember going with co workers from the office for lunch occasionally at Ponderosa but they no longer exist. Also I still can’t get over how massive your buffets and restaurants are in the U.S. Thank you for another video❤️

I miss these places so much. I would take my 5 children on Sundays for the breakfast buffet (Ponderosa) once a month and also the regular buffet at least once a month. Ours closed almost 10 years ago 😞

I love Bonanza! The buffet looked wonderful!! I am so proud of John for trying the scrapple! I absolutely love scrapple but I only eat it from an Amish butcher in Pa. John next time you see scrapple try it with maple syrup. A lot of people eat it that way. John I think you might like my corned beef hash. I cure my own corned beef and I make it from scratch! SOS is pretty good too. I hope to be able to get to Bonanza some day . Thanks guys have a great weekend!!

OMG!!! Had a Bonanza Steakhouse where I grew up in the 70's in Brisbane, Australia! Got taken over by Sizzler in the 80's..............>sigh!< the memories. Now the Sizzlers are pretty much all gone too!! Great review again guys.

Hi John and Bobbie! We had 2 Bonanza Resteraunts, 2 Ponderosa resteraunts! . We still have the barnshaped building on the Northside of town. Strictly a steakhouse when I was a kid. Now they have a buffett. Love the breakfast buffet. Bobbie 1st round egg casserole, blueberry pancakes, sausage patties, grits, etc. All look good. John got the ham, fried potato, sausage links, eggs, corned beef hash. Bobbies second round biscuit and gravy, bananas and strawberry glaze yum!YUM!, cantaloupe. Coffee. John's scrapple, creamed chipped beef on toast, chicken tender, and a sticky bun . Everything looks so good. Glad they added breakfast menu. Orange juice. Bobbies dessert peach cobbler , berry jello. Love it all. Wish they didn't close here in Evansville. Great price!!!

Love buffets and bonanza's buffet looks amazing

We used to eat at Ponderosa and Bonanza once in a while back in the 70s and 80s and then approximately 10 years ago we were at that exact Bonanza that you're sitting in, it was either lunch buffet or a dinner buffet and we thought it was decent. That breakfast buffet I think looks pretty good especially for the money. ❤🇺🇸🙏🏻👍🏻

Buffet looks really yummy. But a BIG NO to the scrapple and cornbeef hash. I always loved Shoneys breakfast bar when we had one in Indiana back in the day. I miss it. Never been to Bonanza. Always loved Ponderosa. So sad that these places are closing their doors. Thank you for taking us with you to Bonanza. ❤

Great video and review. Damn, they need to bring Bonanza back. That's one of the best breakfast buffets I have seen in a long time. Huge variety of choices for breakfast. You just gotta be a picky eater if you can't find something to enjoy from that buffet.

Scrapple and corned beef hash! Sounds delicious! I know some people do not like certain things. Like that S.O.S. you enjoyed. A lot of people do not like that. Me I love it. My momma used to make S.O.S. often. Along with scrapple. She used to put fried eggs over medium on a plate with her scrapple. Me and my brother loved it. God rest her soul. Food looks delicious. We grew up eating scrapple and I like it. It's got to be fried nice and crispy on the outside and you eat it with ketchup, but some people like maple syrup on it. Some people think that Pennsylvania Dutch invented scrapple but it was actually German immigrants who lived in Philadelphia who invented scrapple ❤

They just closed our bonanza here in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania between Harrisburg and Hershey. I think that's the last one in the area. I don't know of any Ponderosa still open but i would have to look. We enjoyed both of those places 30- 50 years ago. Thanks for taking us back memory lane.

What a nice looking buffet. I almost was expecting the music from Bonanza to come on in the beginning, but I guess it is copywritten. 😅 I have not seen scrapple and SOS since I lived in VA back in the late 80s till late 90s. I'm ok without the scraple, as it is to mushy for me, even if fried crispy. I did love the SOS so. It's salted chipped beef in a cream gravy. I do love corned beef hash, it has to be fried crispy so. And I like it with lots of potatoes. I probably would have mixed some of the diced potatoes with my corned beef. 😊 But my favorite breakfast food is biscuits and gravy. You mentioned the soft crust on the breakfast pizza. We got a take and bake breakfast pizza from Walmart once, it said it had a biscuit crust. Your pizza might of had the same type of crust. It looks like I’m gonna have to come with y’all to show you how to eat biscuits and gravy - you’ve got to break that biscuit open so the ratio of gravy to biscuit is right. You don’t want to end up with a lot of dry biscuit when your gravy’s gone! 😜

This is the best looking Bonanza I have ever seen. I never saw one with the breakfast here in Arkansas. I sure miss the one we had!

Next time you find yourself in Chambersburg on a Friday or Saturday check out Jim’s Country Market. Their ham sandwiches are to die for! Also, I highly recommend 30 West Family Restaurant. They have amazing breakfasts and dinner specials. My parents have lived in Chambersburg for 20 years 😊. Love to watch your channel!

Sorry to tell yall but if you eat sausage, hot dogs, kielbassi, etc it is same as scrapple minus the cornmeal. It is good with syrup.

I Remember we had a Bonanza in North Charleston, SC back in the 1970s Mom Dad and I used to go a Lot it was on Rivers Ave and I thank Remount, Rd I miss the Good old Says.

Maybe John would like the corned beef hash if it was allowed to get a nice crispy layer and with the bell pepper and onions. Homemade is the best. Take your leftover St. Patrick's day corned beef ground up and other ingredients fried together in bacon fat. Yum. Another great video. Haven't commented lately but I'm still watching.

Corned beef hash is best cooked on a griddle until crispy and topped with runny eggs. Diners usually cook it like a patty crisped on both sides. Not my cup of tea but my husband's favorite.

Scrapple~Everything but the OINK 😆 Okay in all fairness y'all, coming from a hash lover....that hash was all wrong! Hash should be fried crispy on both sides in patties like a smash burger. Though I like corned beef and roast beef hash the very best one is sold by Walmart. Damn I really miss Bonanza. We had 3 nearby in Michigan and my family would go there all the time. The food was amazing and I loved the variety and endless quantity. It would make my week every trip with the family as a child. Even better we had one that was right next door to an arcade that I would beg my mom for quarters for. So many good memories. The kids today are really missing out. I wish we could return to that era of America.

I've been eating field greens salad with a runny egg on top. I would love to eat at a Bonanza or Ponderosa..i love chip beef with gravy...i used to like corn beef hash..its been a long time ago. Great video

Well that is a terrific value! While sausage gravy isn't t common where I live I have decided to make it myself. Looks delicious! You guys always look cool in your videos(great t shirts :) ) but your outfits here were really nice! John that shirt looks fantastic on you!

There is a shoneys in pigeon forge. Strawberry pie is super easy to make at home. Strawberry pretzel pie is also very good and easy to make.

The breakfast pizza reminds me of the square ones I used to eat at school. You can't find it like that anymore. Looks like a wide variety to choose from. I've never seen a salad bar on a breakfast buffet. It looks like most of the food is premade. Everything looked good.

The Bonanza in my area closed 4 years ago. I miss it. Scrapple isn’t for everyone. It’s everywhere in Northeast PA.

I use to eat at Bonanza when I was kid. I use to love places like that, also Old Country Buffet, Ryan’s Steakhouse, Sizzler, etc. I was chunky kid 😂😂

I don't understand why people hate buffet restaurants. My parents loved Bonanza, ponderosa, sveden house, old country buffet, big boys and others. The choices are unlimited. Something for everyone. Bay City Michigan still has a ponderosa. We still enjoy golden corral. For the price it's still a good value. Where can you get steak, shrimp, chicken, salad, baked or mashed potatoes a full salad, dessert if you like that stuff and sides for about 20.00 no where now a days. I think it's a good deal. It's a nice break from cooking and a treat out. Other restaurants are rip off. Even McDonald's and burger King.

There was one of these locations in the town I grew up in. It closed by the early 90’s. Never had a chance to check it out. We didn’t have a lot of money so to us, it looked fancy lol!

I miss Bonanza, they always had good food for a reasonable price. I’m a scrapple hound, I buy it in my local supermarket and fry it up with eggs and grits. I grew up on it on my grandmothers farm, it’s an acquired taste. Did you change your camera, your videos look awesome, what camera are you use J & B? I never got a chance to go to this restaurant chain during its day. Doubt I will ever be up in PA. But the restaurant sure looks nice and well kept, very clean. The food on display looks very fresh and tastey. Nice assortment also.

I love scrapple! We just had some the other night for dinner. I tend to like a thicker slice so it's crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, but I also like a thin slice that's completely crispy.

In Greenfield, Indiana, the largest Ponderosa in the state was torn down last year. Now an Olive Garden is being built on the property.

All the food looked delicious except the corned beef hash and the scrapple. I agree with John, I don't like either one. That price was very reasonable too. Thanks for sharing

I love scrapple! Even though you said it was crispy it looked like it could have been cooked just a little longer. It’s like bacon, CRISPY bacon 😁 might want to remember too, all scrapple taste different, so you might dislike it one place and like it in another. 😁

I always wondered why the Bonanza chain has closed so many locations. We really enjoyed going to the one near my home growing up. For the price, everything looked very good.

Old-fashioned Americana. Also remember Western Sizzlin' (which used to be great), Sizzler, Ponderosa. I guess this business formula doesn't work anymore. A shame. BTW, great looking spread. Funny how grits and sausage gravy are normal up in the north now.

More-or-less national steakhouse chains have come and gone so. First Ponderosa, Bonanza, Sizzler. (The latter might still have some locations open.) Then Lonestar---one was in my neck of the woods, closed around 2017. I liked them, they were affordable with dependable menu selections. (I think it was the one in Downers Grove IL that burned down around 1999-2001, & was never rebuilt.) Now Outback, Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn are the currents. Have a Texas Roadhouse relatively near, too, but it is mainly dinner-hour service, lunch only on weekends, oddly.
