Didn't think about the writers' strike being an issue with working on Bond 26 but now that you say it, it makes perfect sense.

After No Time to Die, I don't trust Barbara with the franchise. Her father respected Ian Fleming and his creation, James Bond.

I'd like to see Richard Madden as next James Bond. To be honest I don't think they'll announce a new Bond anytime soon. Maybe mind or end off 2024!

I can't imagine they have done no work on Bond 26. If it is true, that would mean no work for almost 3 years now (from approx. date of original release) which would, in turn, mean EON is completely checked out and should probably sell their shares to Amazon so we can move on. Having said that, based on the lamentable state of modern "culture, "no news" means "no bad news." Also, if Nolan gets the directing gig he and his brother may also write it..

Eon obliterated the formula in a convincing deconstruction exercise that began with Casino Royale, picked up in earnest with Skyfall and completed with NTTD. I can imagine Barbara Broccoli saying to her screenwriters at the beginning of the last production, 'Have a party, drink as much as you like, trash the place, dance all over the remains for all I care; and when you go, don't bother to lock the door behind you.' I have no issue with Bond dying, all screen heroes should die in action. But Bond stopped being a hero after Die Another Day. No, for me the most telling signs of deliberate destruction were Q's ambivalence towards his role as a scientist, Bond's casual acceptance of the conditions, the callous inversion of Tracy's death in OHMSS when Bond allows gunmen to fire repeatedly at the windscreen in front of Madeleine; and Bond's carefree about turn in Cuba. I was glad Bond was killed off at the end, not so glad to see the ominous words on the screen James Bond Will Return. I put it out there that Eon have completed their journey to the dark side and any future Bond will be a dystopian anti-hero in a dystopian society. In other words, a menace. To all those fans eagerly hoping Bond will return to the screen I say this - be very careful what you wish for

I don’t like her style, but hey, that’s her style. I hope she’s not trying to kill Bond inaction is dangerous. To keep things under wrap to make us fans enthusiastic is one thing to say they haven’t even started anything that’s just foolish.
