I can hardly hear the instrumentation, but I can still follow what's happening and it's fucking great. Sounds like there's some crust punk influence in there too.

I don't see the issue here. I personally like a nice lo-fi sound no matter the genre, but it's even better when put in with Black Metal. A lo-fi, garage beat with a grungy album cover. What's the issue?
@206pictures7
@206pictures7 7 жыл бұрын
The recording and technique involved here is actually so nonexistent it fits in to a third category, known as no-fi. That doesn't make it bad, nor does it make it not art, but it does make it difficult to classify as "music" so much as experimental sound.
@blackmantram6057
@blackmantram6057 7 жыл бұрын
Why is it hard to classify as "music"? it's not even that noisy and hard to digest compared to other stuff such as gnaw their tongues, I can prefectly distinguish the notes and there's definitely structure there. Guitars are primitive of course, hence the punk influence, drums are actually quite good and well executed, the rawness comes from the little post-production, there's barely mixing there. I don't know what are you people talking about.

@Black Mantram They're obviously people who aren't used to raw, lo-fi, abrasive music. This is quite raw, but it's pretty easy to make out what's happening, and there's far noisier stuff out there.

I used to listen to this tape with my homie through a handheld tape recorder. Black metal is at its best when it’s filthy and crusty I feel the same way about old punk stuff. It’s so much better raw.

Guys let's be serious here. Lo-fi is cool but this sounds like it was recorded with an iPhone from the the building across the street. And that's too bad if you ask me, as the record is pretty awesome.

this seems like one of those bands that is low fi for the sake of being low fi. I am a fan of bands that are cacophonous instrumentally. I have been into noise rock, crust punk, and especially black metal for a long time. I just wish that bands would use ADEQUATE recording equipment. I feel like I'm missing out on what I could be hearing in the music when bands make music like this. Same with some drunks with guns and rusted shut recordings and many many more that I don't remember. It just bugs me.
@Jeremy_Fisher
@Jeremy_Fisher 9 жыл бұрын
Adequate recording equipment isn't black metal. I would have thought if you were into noise rock, crust punk, and black metal, that you would've been used to bands purposefully using worse equipment.

JeremyxFisher hmm. come to think of it I dunno how the productions of those bands I really like compares to the production of this band. I just think this band sounds like a mess and unappealing.

anonymousDerp Many early Black Metal bands produced extremely poor-quality recordings, both by choice and by default. It was part of the initial appeal-a rejection of the virtuosic style associated with death and thrash. Burzum, in the studio recording the eponymous album, asked to use the worst possible microphone and ended up with headphones plugged into the microphone jack. Bathory's first album is a mess, Mayhem's isn't much better, Gorgoroth's demo is a great bit of cold waste, Emperor and Thorns are both really rough, Von is masterfully misrecorded. It's been a lost aesthetic detail and I feel like the genre suffers because of it. I think it's hard to convey cold death with exquisitely recorded riffs.
@anonymousDerp
@anonymousDerp 9 жыл бұрын
Noah Dillon I can't tell if you are defending low quality production or against it. I do think that using the low quality recordings is somewhat interesting, because it really doesn't matter how well the song is recorded in actuality. I do not like the way that bone owl sounds though because it sounds too flat and it isn't hard hitting enough. I am not defending virtuosic playing by any means, I think most of those virtuoso metal bands are total masturbation.

anonymousDerp I love rough, bad, low-fidelity recording. I think Bone Awl made great music. It sounds like a crypt.

Not bad. Could use some cleaning up in the production department, as the days of purposely being lo-fi for kvlt status are behind us. That being said, they do remind me of Vlad Tepes and the LLN sound.

Z A C H uhh.. because its good you asswipe. Also please stop using racial slurs you racist douchebag. What you called 'w word' are appropriating culture of other race and I don't like them either, but two wrongs don't make right.
@anonimus966
@anonimus966 6 жыл бұрын
Z A C H ok, first of all stop that! You literally just said the N-word. I guess I should've expected nothing good out of nazi elitist black metal hipster neckbeard. Second of all, none of the deathcore musicians are appropriating black culture. Their music is highly technical and is pretty much modern equivalent of Mozart and Beethoven, in fact if they were alive today they would prefer to listen to bands like suicide silence and asking alexandria instead of these atonal potato cave garbage you call black metal. And lastly, what do you know of these artists who are deeply emotional, writing lyrics about life, relationships and its struggles, when all you listen is these noise about satan this and satan that? Why don't you go back to sucking satans cock then if you like it so much?
@anonimus966
@anonimus966 6 жыл бұрын
Z A C H omg did you just trivialize emotional problems of teenagers? How fucking dare you! People fucking die because of depression, relationship and bullying! Some people killed themselves because of these problems, and its so easy for entitled douchebags like you to ridicule people while hiding safely behind the screens. These 'degenerates' as you call them give emotional shelter and support through their music. You have no right whatsoever to speak badly about them. I hope when one of your family or friends is being suicidal and depressed you won't be as condescending as you are to me.
