Hey 👋 Loved this video, and your commentary on "struggle love" is so needed. There is a difference between love that isn't fluffy and struggle love a la Tyler Perry. And as someone who loves romance, there is space for non-fluffy romance just as there is space for fluffy romance.

The breakfasts you make always look so good. I’m currently in between books. I just finished Someday, Maybe and Once Upon a Broken Heart. Both were so good. I definitely want to read Heart of the Sun Warrior soon but I’m waiting for my friends to read Daughter of the Moon Goddess first. I’ve never read a Katee Robert book before but Court of the Vampire Queen is on my list

Hi Bri! Your breakfast dishes always look so good 😍 I picked up Not So Perfect Strangers this month at Barnes since it was on their BOGO 50% off selection. I actually thrifted a ruin of roses late last year at Goodwill, but I haven’t read it yet. I’m definitely intrigued now

Another great video. I get so annoyed at how our community labels every relationship that isn't glitter and gold "struggle love" sometimes its just love. These same people eat Colleen Hoover books up without mention of "struggle love", and if you ask me she's the Tyler Perry of the literary world

Thank you girlie and I 100% agree! CoHo is absolutely the definition of struggle love and unfortunately she’s constantly praised for her mediocrity. Our community needs to use better language when we talk about our stories. It’s so dismissive to just label any book with hardship “struggle love.”

I’m one of those people who thinks this book reflects struggle love. I know that each reader will have different views, but for me the book felt toxic. Writing to each other, the lack of communication once the relinked felt like it could lead back into falling into the same patterns (don’t want to spoil the ending for you). I loved how the author weaved in so many real life and relatable issues. I’m happy that Williams got the praise she deserved, even if I didn’t fall head over heels for the book.

Yeah I honestly can’t agree. Two people who spent years healing themselves and I don’t think there was any stage in their reconnecting that they didn’t communicate. They were both very much clear about what each of them needed in order to remain stable in their lives while also reconnecting. Even in moments where there was minor miscommunication they still recovered and made their needs known. So I personally fail to see how a book that prioritizes healing and understanding can ever be toxic and I think we need to be careful about what we blatantly label as “toxic” or “struggle love.” Love and stability can also exist within the painful aspects of life too. Thanks for watching boo 💕
