You can spray your binders with WD-40 or any type of lubricant in the tub to keep them oiled and rust free.

Hi I'm subscribed your channel ☺. I want to start doing Hotshot next year only in Florida. What advice can you give me?
@DreamInspired
@DreamInspired 2 жыл бұрын
Extremely bad idea. 1 - this isn’t a “only in Florida” business. I spend 2 months at a time on the road away from Florida to make money. This industry doesn’t really work in Florida. 2 - Unless you have your own equipment already, you won’t last. Freights may be up a little bit but the cost of vehicle and trailer are up more than 50%, fuel has tripled in the past 9 months alone, my road expenses including meals and supplies and stuff are up 60% since Jan. With the extreme rise in costs, income has not risen even 1/4 as much. 3 - CDLs will most likely be required come February. Also, getting your CDL will be much hard come February. When I got my CDL, I walked into the school, paid for the tests, took the tests a week later and got to work… now, They will be requiring a full school course for you to get a CDL and that will also cost far more than what I and other people paid in the past. Becoming a driver is going to be hard. Being successful tho, that’s going to be near impossible for people trying to break into this business brand new. Your best bet, find a big company like Prime or Swift, have them pay for your CDL in exchange for working for them for a year. They will train you, put you to work, show you everything you need to know and pay you while you gain the experience you need. I have 3 fiends who just started working with Prime and 1 with Covenant.

Trying to finish the Test next week and in January starting pay for the class for the license. I hope to finish everything before February 2022🙏.Well, for now I honestly only plan to do it in Florida, be it moving cargo or cars. let's see how it goes🙏

Not sure if you do or not but when your not using your binders lube them and thread them all the way in so rain and dirt doesn’t get in the threads. I drive an RGN moving heavy equipment and our shop is basically off beeline it by the shell station. It was cool seeing you in my area.
@DreamInspired
@DreamInspired 2 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome man! Sad they are closing down PBIR/Morosso out there. I used to take the beeline 3x a week to Okeechobee 🤣 That’s what I usually do with the binders. Issues are the dirt that gets on them while I’m using them and driving then gets in the tube when I close them up, and they rarely get used so after sitting in the rain and weather and the rust sets in. I gotta take em apart and clean and lube them to. Just never get that kind of time free.

@@DreamInspired is it hard finding loads out of Florida? I plan on getting a truck next year hopefully
@DreamInspired
@DreamInspired 2 жыл бұрын
Florida sucks. I mean you can find loads, just not all the time and not always paying your worth. For me tho, if I can’t find 1 or find 1 worth my time, I’m ok with driving to GA, AL, SC and taking something that’s going to pay me my worth instead of something paying less than $1 a mile.

Hey man I’ve been thinking about doing power only with a semi, I have a couple of questions that I hope you can answer, did you finance your semi? If so how much did you put down? Would the finance company care if I got a loan to start the business and used the loan money for the down payment? Which load boards do you use to find loads? Are most of the loads you book loaded with cargo? Or are they mostly empty trailers?
@DreamInspired
@DreamInspired 2 жыл бұрын
Came thru loaded up. I like that 👍🏻 right to the point lol. Unfortunately when talking numbers, the value when I bought it vs the value today with 300k more miles, is roughly the same. Prices are thru the fuckin roof! It’s insane, but for perspective, I’ll give you inside scoop. So my truck is a 2016 Volvo 780. Bought it with 544k miles for $60k in top notch condition. Yes it’s financed. They asked for $10k down but I put $14k. The remaining $46k plus warranty and finance fees came to around $47k financed. 4 year loan, currently owe around $22k. This is where the value comes in from today vs when I got it. Had her in for an oil change recently. Sales guy saw me looking at a new truck and with mine not inspected or really seen, he offered me $50k for a trade. He did that knowing even with over 800k miles, he’s gonna sell it for over $60k. As for where you get the down payment from, I would never take a loan to secure another loan. Especially not on a used vehicle. Too much shit can go wrong. I had to dump $4k into this in my first week to get the injector cups and injectors replaced. Good thing I had that cash on hand to do. But if you’re really wanting to go that route, don’t tell em that. They don’t need to know where the money came from. Just walk in with cash and give it to em. Booking wise, TruckStop.com, JB Hunt, Schneider etc. I use their load boards. Become a register carrier with them and a lot of stuff is easy to find and book. Takes some experience to find just the right loads but if you’re interested, I also dispatch if you’ve got authority to drive. Dispatch@ImperialTrucks.com Trailers range from loaded to empty to specialized wide loads. Depends on what’s available in the areas you’re at. Gotta be open to everything tho.

@@DreamInspired Also is the pay good ? I'm seeing on average 6 figure salaries (which I hope is true and will stay that way) in my area.
@DreamInspired
@DreamInspired 2 жыл бұрын
6 figures is doable but not likely at all as an employee running their equipment. Change it up and run your truck but leased on, you make a good bit more but you’ve also got a little more expenses. Get your own truck and own Authority tho, now you’re looking at 6 figures but that depends on how you’re driving and how long you’re staying out. Guys who need to be home every night rarely do 6.
@raceboy9517
@raceboy9517 2 жыл бұрын
@@DreamInspired honestly I'm seeing listings in my area that pay 70k-100k for working with a company (and presumably their truck). So I'm assuming that near 6 figure salaries are common.
