Thank you so much! Forty years… six years…then turned the corner! Bravo! Thank you! I’m sorry, Jim William’s story was not told accurately! I’m sorry he passed. Bravo that you left your position to do the Estate! Much admiration for you! Today, 2024, I still say Thank You!… I arrived in Charleston, S.C. and choose Beaufort, S.C. and my heart remained … thank you! I’m Nurse Jane… God Bless You! Good Evening! Stay safe!

We just toured the house last week and it exceeded our expectations. Though it’s filled with antiques, it has a modern sensibility that is very appealing.

Am I the only one that gets a rather strong and definitive impression that this woman Dorothy would much prefer to swallow her own teeth *_and_* those fake pearls _with them,_ before she would answer a simple question that Debbie took care to rephrase multiple times, (no less than four, at least!): *"Dorothy, which parts of the book are **_the fiction you claim it to be,_** and what parts are true?"* And the way Dorothy sloooowed down that entire "southern and wealthy [don't bet on it] genteelism" act to a damn-near crawl as she was choosing which way to _ignore the question entirely_ -- Good. _Lord!_ Ten minutes of airtime isn't as easy to fill as one may assume, and Debbie did great, the ways she found to repeat _the same question_ without sounding like she was hounding Dorothy, or even mildly annoyed with Dottie's abject refusal to comply, no matter which angle or way Debbie rephrased it. She earned a gold star *_and_* a "Battle Stripe" for struggling through this shameful mess right to the 'Matrix-Time' speech patterns. And finally: Dorothy spent *_less_*_ than _*_one minute_* to even BOTHER mentioning Jim Williams -- y'know, the main topic and focal point and cause for the interview "Jim was electrifying," then 9:30 minutes of of Dot "aye"-ing through the rest. _"I this. I that. MeMeMeMe ...and Everyone just LOVED Jim's stories." __*_Yikes._* Narcissist much?

She may have not have liked the outcome of the book but she does not hesitate to charge people to tour the main floor of his home! She signed a book that is for sale in the bookstore!!

This lady, Dorothy Kingery, is in denial... court records, sworn testimony, recorded interviews, but she says the book is all fiction. If you tour the Mercer House, you won't hear one word uttered about the incidents that made the book possible. The house is now in a sad state of disrepair. Ironwork is rusting, paint is peeling, house is dirty...the tour guides rush you through the house so fast that if you blink, you'll miss it. If it wasn't for the book, she wouldn't be making a dime; there wouldn't be folks lined up to tour the house every day. I'm of the opinion that she should just be happy with what fell into her lap, and take things for what they are.

+TheGraphicsdevil She did not say that it is all fiction but that key portions are. That is true. Mercer House is incredibly expensive to maintain -- Jim always struggled with that -- and inheritance taxes are expensive as well. D.O., while not Jim's choice as its resident owner, is doing a remarkable job under the circumstances of trying to keep the house in the family -- Jim certainly would've been pleased to have nieces Amanda and Susan there and inheriting the home, which his sister is obviously trying to have happen some day -- and of trying to keep Jim's good name clear despite the viciousness of so many in Savannah, including, it seems, you. He worked so hard to prove his innocence, which the court records more than establish, and it is so evil that it continues to be questioned by the mean of heart when he is no longer living to defend it.

I was just in Savannah and toured the Mercer House. It's in good repair and filled with beautiful antiques. The shooting was mentioned when we were shown the study but in a low key way that certainly implied Jim William's innocence. The gift shop sells copies of the book and the movie.

I just vacationed in Savannah. Drove past the house but found it too sad to take a tour. There were two other deaths there prior to the murder. The boy who fell off the roof and a workman who died. Also,Jim was too creepy

I was a longtime friend and neighbour of Jims, He absolutely abhorred Dorothy and would roll over in the grave with so much as an idea she is living in Mercer House. Funny there was so little money left she had to sell most of his things. She only came by living there because her mother died. Shame on you Dorothy, you know what you did.

After watching this video I can understand why he abhorred her! She comes across as very condescending.

Sounds like she is trying to put a better spin on the salacious details for the family.

@@MissGeorgiaPeachy I don't find her to be condescending. I find her to profit from a family disgrace, from the tourism from the book which she purports to abhor. Her brother was a bad guy and she is lucky all hasn't been brought out about him. Dorothy passed away in 2/2023. I guess the house is now the daughters. They were in the movie.

I just read After Midnight In the Garden of Good & Evil by Marilyn Bradsley. Williams left Dorothy $10, the copyright to "Psycho Dice" game, and the rights to his papers (whatever THOSE were). The book did not go into why they do not get along, but Dorothy got everything after the mother passed away.

+PungiFungi Jim was a wonderful writer and his sister has already used some of his papers to help tell the story of his remarkable career preserving the history of Savannah, other great southern homes, and historic Jamaica. He was the world's foremost expert on the paintings of Jeremiah Theus and was working on a book on the subject. Psycho Dice is a valuable property as well. It is great fun and trains a part of the mind most people neglect to their detriment. It grew out of our love of backgammon and I have many fond memories of playing it at Mercer House.

I was in the house for a tour in October 2019 and the home is being very WELL taken of. If I remenber correctly I was told his sister Ms Kingery is a physician I would not know why people think she would not have anything if not for Jim the book and movie. Interesting

Dorothy still has no problem profiting from her brothers past while still being ashamed of him as a person almost 40 years later. It’s still happening today. The book - After midnight in the garden is full of great info and facts. It was well known that his mother and sister were not his favorite people. After knowing this - Dorthys comments and point of view is very easy to understand.

How at home could your kids feel in a home where their uncle killed a male prostitute in his hire? She also had her daughters in the movie.
