Haven’t followed this but Boomer did a weekly call in for The Score in Chicago and I liked his segments. He was insightful and funny and believe me, I find very few of the former players entertaining at all.

🎉 I was lucky enough to witness Boomer's greatness during his college days at Maryland. I attended the Terps game against Wake Forest in 1983. It was a high scoring game and Boomer was sensational in leading Maryland to victory.

Love Boomer, and not just because I grew up a few miles north of him on Long Island....uh, sorry....Lawn Guylind! I didn''t even know he was a fellow New Yawkah until he played too briefly for the Jets, but I was a fan of his while he was in his prime with the Bengals. He's an easy interview because he has plenty to say and knows how to present himself, but still I have to reluctantly say that even Stugotz did a great job in this segment. I hope we will now see an interview by Stugotz of Patrick Beverley 🤭

Why not get rid of all announcers I tune in to watch the game not hours of drivial talk. Even during the game to many people talking nonsense. Boy how I miss summeral. Gifford. Gowdy. Ray Scott they actually let u watch the game

@@Paul-vf2wl great point! Jimmy Johnson remains on Fox. I think Boomer said on his radio show that the head of the network left and a new guy took over; plus Paramount is being sold. New guy could have wanted to set his own mark as the boss. I just think Matt Ryan has a reputation as being really boring. JJ is cool. Whatever.

Respect Boomer but the NFL has to keep fresh viewers. A lot of guys playing from the early and mid 2000s are now leaving the game so to keep familiarity it’s hard to still have guys from the 90s and 80s trying to talk and commentate like they left the game 3 years ago.

I agree somewhat. As an old-school dude that actually saw Boomer play back in the day, I understand new blood is needed. But regardless of familiarity, the former players have to be interesting and intriguing. Shaq and Barkley are very entertaining, and they haven't played in 20 years.

Listen, they’re in their 60’s now. They’ll still work because it’s who they are, but it’s time to cut back and enjoy the family. They both had incredible runs; I loved listening to Phil call games because he was awesome at it. They were both really good NFL QB’s and legendary broadcasters. I wish the best for them and their families

Boomer and Phil Simms were awful. Coach Cowher is horrific, as well. All of these boring white guys are long in the tooth. They add absolutely zero. Dan Marino and Howie Long....they all just mail it in. Can anyone remember a single insight they ever had? Me neither.

I use to like Boomer as a kid rooting for him & his Bengals until years later of learning he has racist tendencies. Am I sorry to see a man lose his job? The answer is yes. Am I sorry Boomer lost his job, I can say I feel either way because he always displayed a smug disrespectful undertone to his analysis being hyper critical of minority player actions oppose to the opposite from others. Good luck w/ his next destination. Hopefully, his tone will change if he isn’t aware of his tendencies cause I loved Boomer until he showed his character.
