I had to move in with my Dad to care for him and he would fuss about how much he hated the paper these days. They removed the TV section etc... He would say I don’t want to get it anymore, waste of money etc... so, I cancelled it. He was so sad. Happiest day of his life was when I had them start delivering it again. He would go to the front door in his boxers to get his paper. My Dad passed away in January, I miss everything about him. These are the things that make me smile the most. One of a kind, as it should be. Love you Daddy!

I too moved in to take care of my Father. Fortunately he is still with me and still saying almost all these things. I’m sorry for your loss. It is nice to know though that some things will always stay with you. BTW, what’s with the pork chops?? I think my Dad loves them mostly because he can’t gnaw on them like a wild animal. 😂

My dad only got up early if he absolutely had to. HIS dad, however, was up at 3-4am daily. It was great as a kid when we'd sleep over because grandad would always be up and ready to play with us long before our parents. Even better at Christmas when he'd tell us we'd just missed Santa, then go make us some toast and watch cartoons with us until everyone else was up.
