An amusing diagnosis of big-city growing pains, Boomsville is an ironic view of town planning, or rather, the lack of it, and what has happened to our cities as a result. Done in cartoon animation, the film traces the growth of the typical city, from a tiny settlement in the vast North American wilderness to the car-clogged metropolis that so many cities are today. Film without words.
Directed by Yvon Mallette - 1968 | 10 min

I remember watching this in 4th or 5th grade. I always thought it was called "Boomtown" though. The guy at 1:37 mark got a laugh from the class.

Amazing how the East Coast off Canada couldn’t keep the rail lines. Think how much better Nova Scotia and New Brunswick would be with quality rail running through it.

wooohooo white colonization, seemingly endless boom, and all the stinking villes that followed. However Game Over. Overshoot (Boom) always leads to Collapse (Bust) And dear old Canucky had a great run for 150 years, now finished and back to killing the remaining natives or completely displacing them.

My favorite part was how there was no slavery and the railroads built themselves, no forced Chinese labor necessary.

Reminder: the French were the first to give booze to the native Americans. Blame Cadillac.

And this is the true story of how America was born and how we bravely defeated the Indians and the Blue Meanies.
