You've likely seen in the news by now that much of Australia is under stay at home lockdown orders. We've been in lockdown for a month now, with no end in sight, so I wanted to take some time today to discuss how we're adapting to the situation, as well as some other important changes we're making related to mental health.
Time Stamps:
0:00 - Intro
0:53 - Challenges we're facing
2:40 - What the lockdown means for us
5:20 - Mental Health Update
9:10 - What's Changing

If I may give you an advice: take a break from social media, don't worry about us and get in shape. Start working out. A healthy mind needs a healthy body.

Great and honest talk there mate. As a family man myself, it's definitely your health and family which should always take priority. They're what brings us the biggest joy after all. ❤

This is also something that I've had to step back and look at recently. As someone who's been working from home for the last 5 years, I hadn't realized how much it affected my relationship and my connection with my 2 daughters. Being always in a 'work mode' from the start till the end of the day can not only be draining on ourselves, but also those around us when we're in the thick of it. Glad to see that you've had the time to step back from the insanity, and see things from the other side before it had any long lasting negative effects. Family and living life first always mate. Great video man.

Hey Will, nice video again. Fully agree with many points. Myself Iam working from home ( from it a lot of lockdown months here in Slovakia ) pretty much from day 1 of covid here in Slovakia ( like from March 2020 ). After more than one year of repetitive work / home duties I found myself in very bad situation. A friend of mine died, we had some health difficulties in family and after fighting covid for two weeks I was facing some consequences for almost next 3 months ( mostly liver issues ). SimRacing and its community was all the time the best stress reliever, especially few weeks ago when I faced total burnout and drop into crazy anxiety issues ( mostly due to work issues I had to fight and all the bad stuff that happened in previous months ). After all of this I still need to say that simracing is very fine way how to reduce stress ( until you are in Monza T1 :D )

Thanks for the "chat" Will. I've recently had a severe break down from being burnt out at work. It's a hard fight to get back but sim racing and other hobbies are helping. Take care of your mental health guys. When things get bad there's always help. Thanks again Will and Tom. Take care.

I understand how things can get as I have/had my issues. Always look for someone to talk to, always reach out and never give up. Remember that getting overwhelmed and frustrated is human, it's OK to walk away from things. Head up, you are NOT alone!

Good for you looking at your work/life balance responsibly. How awful it would be to realise that once your kids have grown up, you missed it all because of over-work. Your self awareness is a great asset. I really appreciate your real life vids and your honesty. Good for you ! Really good points about the value of content and about the impact of social media.

You're doing a banging job mate, everyone deserves days off and a holiday from work now and again, it's especially important when you do work from home. Chin up, we'll all get there in the end!

From the heart, from the car :) I feel your pain in many ways. Producing valuable content is extremely difficult for the past few months. Keep the head up, focus on the targets and remember that when we see you enjoying something, that also gives us value, so don’t worry too much about us. We’ll be here regardless ;)

The collateral damage of lockdowns in terms of mental and economic health are far more severe than the damage the virus will ever cause. I have been depressed for the last year and just barely pulling out of it. Hang in there. Love your videos man, got my sim set up based on your advice. Would love to be part of your community races!

Unfortunately it exposes society's vulnerability even after so many kinds of advances that made us feel safer than we really are in some situations. You hang in there as well Doc, I'll be joining the sim community in the fall with a buddy of mine. ✌

Speaking for myself, I can only attempt to imagine how much work producing a channel like this takes. We see the nice, polished and interesting videos, not all of the work behind the scenes gathering information, making and editing videos and all of the rest of the things that go into presenting a channel like Boosted Media. You and Tom do a bang up job with this channel. 👍 What ever you guys need to make it all work is fine with this fan. 😊

Don’t worry about anything with content man! In Ireland we have had an extremely strict and long lockdown this year, but thankfully we are doing much better now due to vacations. Somehow I never realised that Australia was struggling so much with covid as I thought that all was well down under! I personally struggle a lot similar to you with my mental health and lockdown was difficult. I even found that I wasn’t enjoying anything, even sim racing! I started to take a step back and making the most of the situation. It really helped when I started to relax my schedule and just do things such as sim racing when I felt like it, and not just doing it every night because I felt like I might as well do it because it’s there, but I wasn’t enjoying it. Now that I diversify what I do I enjoy my sim racing so much more! I also started to use my phone less and stopped spending so much time in a daze on social media. So basically man all I’m saying is I completely understand! I hope that you understand that your health is so much more important that videos for KZfaq!

Good luck with your plans and aspirations sir. I think such reflection is really admirable and makes for a life well lived. 1. This is like the second time I've ever posted on a KZfaq video, which I hope goes to show how your honesty and authenticity comes across on this platform. Someone like me feels like it's the right thing to do to respond. 2. I ordered a set of BJ Sim pedals through your Pagnian link yesterday because of your and your brother's review. I thank you both for the quality of that review and appreciate the time it must have taken to produce. I've been into this hobby for all of two months so it was a ridiculous purchase but when you do finally hang up the boots on this channel know that people listened and respected what you achieved with it. Thank you.

Burn out is very REAL. Good on you for having the self-awareness and also the courage to discuss it! It's always nice seeing people have the same issues and thoughts in times like these. (in the nicest possible way, not wishing bad on others lol) I've been struggling for months after all the lockdowns in VIC and couldn't even look at the rig as I associated it with 'no doing stuff' and felt guilty so, thank you for this video mate. Keep well!

It's refreshing and admirable of you to speak out about mental health. It's been stigmatized and people try to hide what they are going through as to not be judged unfairly instead of seeking real help. There is nothing wrong with you folks simply you are because you are going through what most are in fear to face. Don't be afraid to seek help people, it makes you humble yet brave to face it! Good on you m8 for confronting your issues and pray you well!

Gotta look after #1 brother. Always hanging for some community racing too. Just know that while all this crap is going on, you (and many of the other sim racing KZfaqr's) are doing more for other people who are struggling with their own mental health, than you probably realise too man. Ignore the haters, they're irrelevant, we all love the stuff you put out and the effort you put in to it. Keep it up champion. ✌🇦🇺

Take care mate, I'm from Victoria, the most locked down city in the world. Best thing for me was casual sim racing when you get a chance and keeping occupied. Takes your mind off all the other things that are going on for a few hours and not stressed. Understand the burnout fatigue with youtube content, but a casual enjoyable race in one of the sims can cover that. No stress about the quality, I know you like to make it look and sound amazing, but most of us just like your content no matter what. Again take care mate.

I’ve been there Will. You seem to have a really good handle or realization of where you need to be. And don’t take this the wrong way but I can sympathize with you on not making enough time for your wife. A lot of the time is hard because they want to support you and your hobbies or dreams But they will never tell you when they need more time. I have recently put my wife first over everything work/fun. It makes a world of a difference for the relationship. Obviously I’m blessed and worked hard to get to the point of being able to work less to make more time for her/family. And I’ll never turn back now. Bless you and Tom. You guys are true hero’s and deserve to feel good about life with the amount or work you put in. Cheers mate

Will please take a break and take care of you and your family, even if this is your 9-5 you need to take care! We will be here for you whenever you're ready to come back so don't even worry at all ! I love how self aware you are, it's a rare but highly important trait to have! Us fans need to realize that our fav content creators are people too, understand that they have ups and downs and just because Will is busy running his business doesn't mean he doesn't care about us.

I feel the one a week is a great goal, but as a content creator, that could still mean working on 5 big projects at once, even if they're only put out weekly. Either way, I hope it lessens the load overall and gives you more balance and peace of mind.

Wow a lot to take away from such a short video so where to start without writing a novel hopefully the lockdown situation sort itself out soon congrats on the subscriber boom glad to hear your well I understand your mental health situation it's not talked about enough worldwide it's something I suffer from is stress anxiety and depression and find social situations difficult one of the reasons I keep a distance to social media so understand perfectly where your coming from as for the people who are getting annoyed for not getting replies although this channel has 125k + subscribers they probably receive replies in excess of that so Will and Tom not replying to every comment seems perfectly acceptable I personally have been lucky enough to have a couple of replies but you need to be patient it's good to hear you're coming up with new and different ways of running the channel that will be better for the community but more importantly a better work life balance for you guys looking forward to the future of boosted media you guys are something the sim community needs
