When it comes to country brogue boots, Trickers Stows are the last word. You definitely need to review a pair of them. Absolute tanks and gorgeous to boot!

Here in England we would never use the term “tramping” to describe country walking. It’s “hiking” pure and simple. Tramping is for Australians.

Tramping is used in the UK, though maybe only in certain dialects. Trickers sell “tramping shoes”.

@@krisjonesuk yes I noticed that with Trickers so maybe you’re right that it’s used in certain areas of the country - it’s just I’ve just never heard it! To me a “tramp” is someone who lives on the road and sleeps rough like an American Hobo and is sometimes used to describe long distance lorry drivers who sleep on their cabs - “trampers”. Interesting.

Regarding Cheaney sole nomenclature, R = dainite/studded rubber sole. C= commando. D = diamond rubber sole (city sole) GV = Vibram vi-lite B = Britgrip sole (similar to Victory sole) GL = Gumlite EF = Extra flex leather sole (I think). If the abbreviation is not used it is mostly just a leather sole but there are exceptions where they use other soles if it is the only sole type used on the model.

I have Trickers and Grensons and I love them to bits but my Cheaney Ribble C Veldtschoen Chelsea Boot in Almond Grain Leather are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Like walking on sunshine! 😆

Cheaney are my favourite brand of boot makers. A good balance between price and quality and not so expensive that I fear to get them dirty though I do mostly buy them on sale. At full price nowadays I may baby them. This sort of boot is nowadays only likely to be worn down to the country pub. Given the wet climate in most of the UK, people mainly wear hiking boots from brands like Meindl, Scarpa, Salomon and British made Alt-Berg for actually walking off road.

Another great video, and your videos do always stimulate a thought or two in me.......Although you have Trickers Henry, you should try Trickers Stow, for me the Trickers construction and leather quality are a step up again from Cheaney and light years ahead of Grenson.... Yes I am English and living in Sydney, I love my Brogues, hate the American term wingtips, and also love my RMs, Nicks, Trumans and hopefully my Wesco's when they eventually arrive! Keep up the great work....

Those boots look awesome 🙌...and the thing about the space between the panels of the eyelets is misleading. I have slightly wide toe box ball, and slightly skinny ankles... And have problems with 5 inches an up ankle length boots because of that. Thank you for the video.

I have low arches and have had to give up derby boots that laced with the quarters touching. It does depend on the design of the pattern, but when touching means you can't pull the boot tight over your instep, your foot may slip, crowding toes and blistering heels. The dressier the boot, the narrower the designed lacing gap tends to be, and the more important the fit in width and height, since the range of lacing adjust is limited. Thankfully I can get Higgins Mills in B width that fit with a close design, but even sizing down, the eyelets of Iron Rangers come right together and leave my feet flopping about.

Still a pass for me... I have lived here in the UK for years now and somehow i still would not wear boots with brogues. I still prefer my RM Williams for formal wear, or my red wings for a more casual everyday outing. I like the way you compared these boots to White's and RM Williams, especially the materials and costs of those pairs. Keep it up with the videos mate 👍

@@Bootlosophy I can't agree. Cheaneys are great (I mainly wear Tricker's but my Cheaney Malllorys are probably my most comfortable pair of boots) but I have to say that Crockett & Jones are higher quality again. I yearn a pair of Snowdons. Best wishes.
