@@KLRform how do you seal the soot after the burn? I tried polyurethane and after 5 coats, it still smears when touched.

I do it a little different, I mix one tablespoon of Borax in 4oz of hot water, I then use a paintbrush to apply the Borax solution to the wood. The next day when the board is dry, I wipe it down the board with a dry cloth to get the Borax powder off of the board. I then laser engrave the board, I then sealcoat the board with clear lacquer. After the lacquer is dry I runover the board with a sanding sponge to knock down the raised grain, then I add a second coat of clear lacquer. Depending on the power and speed settings you can go from a light color to black as I'm sure everyone already knows. Thanks for sharing, I might try spraying one with water to see if it makes an improvement to the lacquer gloss finish.

We sprayed and then still have to brush or use a cloth to spread it out. So the paint brush might be the easiest way to do it. Thanks for all the rest of the info!

OK, I have to go out and buy some borax tomorrow. That looks really great and to run that speed with that low of a laser percentage. That’s incredible. Thanks for sharing this y’all

I have only used Norton from Imagr.com - we used it for the canvas and the wood We are on IG! KLR form

Does the borax leave the wood looking yellow like the baking soda?

Just looked at it again. I would not call it yellow. It does tint it just a little darker than natural.

What is your Borax to water ratio you're using? Or is that covered in the last video?

1 tablespoon of borax to 3/4 cup of water. If you warm the water first it will help dissolve the borax.
