Back in 1985, I was returning to the US from a vacation in Europe. Among the stuff I brought back was an amount of Sachet that I had purchased from a sidewalk vendor near Notre Dame. I didn't know if there would be a problem bringing it into the country, so I declared it on my customs declaration form (If in doubt, declare it!). The officer asked to see it and called over another officer to check it too. I thought for sure that they would confiscate it, but they passed me on through. I wonder now, however, if they shouldn't have confiscated it as it consists of herbs, potpourri, or aromatic ingredients. Seeing these videos with the amount of organic material that they confiscate started me wondering. I gave the Sachet to my mother to use in her dresser drawers to give the contents a fragrance.

Hahahaha WHAT? an amount of sachet? Dude... That means bag. You g getting back a "sachet" of stuff
@gedstrom
@gedstrom 4 ай бұрын
@@popeye82 The definitions of 'Sachet' that I looked up were along the line of 'a small perfumed bag used to scent clothes'. I bought a container with multiple bags in it. Thus, 'an amount of Sachet'. I don't remember if it was in a canister or a box, but it was a number of bags.
@popeye82
@popeye82 4 ай бұрын
@@gedstrom I see the confusion. It's an englishism from the French word. You're right in that it's a little bag. Better to say un sachet de potpourri defining what's it's in. Definitely understand the confusion, especially if bought in France

@@popeye82 Sorry, but your lesson in French is wasted on me. Never took French, and I failed my first-year Spanish class back in high school 60+ years ago. My only purpose in posting was to urge people to put anything they were not sure about on their customs declaration form. That can void a lot of problems.

The ban on honey seems a bit extreme...especially something that's been processed and thoroughly sealed. I can understand raw honey, which could have something in it, but Kraft almost certainly cooks it, in addition to thoroughly filtering it. I just can't think of any danger from that package of honey.

Travelling from Sweden to Denmark I declared "no food", while I honestly forgot I was carrying packaged smoked salmon. The officer was really unhappy although it was legal to have it.
